Environmental rocker STING has forced WALT DISNEY to change the ending of an animated film for which he wrote the music because it is “exactly the opposite of what I stand for”.
According to a report in the New York Daily News, Sting was horrified to discover that the ending to the animated comedy ‘The Emperor’s New Groove’ featured the emperor in question demolishing a rainforest to build a theme park.
Sting said: “I wrote them a letter and said, ‘You do this, I’m resigning because this is exactly the opposite of what I stand for. I’ve spent 20 years trying to defend the rights of indigenous people and you’re just marching over them to build a theme park. I will not be party to this.”
Five Sting penned songs will definitely appear on the final soundtrack album. One, ‘Perfect World’ is sung by Tom Jones.
