Delta is the only airline to be named to the annual Dow Jones Sustainability North America Index (DJSI), marking the sixth consecutive year the airline has been awarded the distinction.

“From finance to the frontline, we are committed to running a sustainable airline,” said Christine Boucher, Managing Director – Global Environment, Sustainability & Compliance. “With our 1 percent plan, we dedicated a portion of net income to the communities where we live and fly. Our environmental sustainability efforts, paired with the purchase of carbon offsets, have enabled carbon-neutral growth despite an increase in flying.”

Launched in 2005, the DJSI North America compares economic, environmental and social criteria to highlight the top 20 percent of the largest 600 North American companies in the S&P Global Broad Market Index.

“As the only U.S.-based airline to be listed on any of the Dow Jones sustainability indices, we are motivated to look for innovative ways to maintain our position as a national industry leader in sustainability,” said Boucher.

Responses to the DJSI questionnaire came from a variety of sources, including Delta’s 2015 Corporate Responsibility Report.

The airline was also named to the UK’s FTSE4Good Index for the second consecutive year.
