Portraits, caricatures and cartoons, mostly in watercolor and ink, are of the English actor Edmund Kean by various artists. Includes portraits of Kean in various Shakespearean roles including Richard III and Othello, cartoons and caricatures depicting his career at the Drury Lane Theatre, by George and Robert Cruikshank among others, a mezzotint of Kean as Sir Giles Overreach in Philip Massinger's drama "A New Way to Pay Old Debts," engraved by Thomas Lupton and another mezzotint of him dressed as a chief of the Huron American Indian tribe engraved by G.F. Storm. |
