WENATCHEE — The last lawsuit in a botched Wenatchee child sex ring investigation during the 1990s has been settled for $120,000.

Mayor Dennis Johnson said the settlement covers Marlene “Donna” Everett, her brother, Shawn Everett and their lawyers. He added that municipal officials did not admit any wrongdoing.

The settlement was noted in an order filed Monday in Chelan County Superior Court. It’s the last of 30 lawsuits to be resolved.

The Everetts are the children of Harold and Idella Everett, who were arrested in 1994 and pleaded guilty to child molesting. The state Court of Appeals reversed their convictions and they were released from prison in 1998.

Overall, 18 people who were convicted won acquittal on appeal or settled for lesser charges because of foul-ups by police and welfare workers.
