Sir David Attenborough
David Attenborough's 60-year career with the BBC has established him as one of the UK's most-loved broadcasters, and the Life series, which he writes and hosts, has helped to form a comprehensive survey of all life on the planet.
He studied geology and zoology at Clare College, Cambridge and, after two years' national service with the navy and a brief spell working in publishing; he joined the BBC as a producer in 1950. Eventually moving in front of the camera, Attenborough's face and voice gradually became synonymous with the BBC's wildlife output.
Now in his nineties, he continues to work on television, film and radio projects for the BBC, including his new series Blue Planet II.
