Throwback Thursday: 2014 Ivan Hlinka Tournament
With four 67’s players invited to Hockey Canada’s Summer Showcase, we take a look back at Travis Konecny and Team Canada winning gold at the 2014 Ivan Hlinka Memorial Cup Tournament
Legendary NFL coach Vince Lombardi once said, “The strength of a group is the strength of the leaders.” Well Hockey Canada’s 2014 Ivan Hlinka Memorial Cup champions had plenty of strength.
Captained by the 67’s own Travis Konecny, the gold medal winning team had quite the leadership group. Konecny was joined by forward Nick Merkley (Kelowna, WHL) and defenseman Jérémy Roy (Sherbrooke, QMJHL), who serve as alternate captains during the tournament. Together they led Team Canada to their 7th Ivan Hlinka Tournament gold medal in a row.
