Arts, Briefly; Producer at Jujamcyn

Rocco Landesman, the president of the Jujamcyn Theaters, which owns five Broadway theaters, announced yesterday that Jordan Roth, a young producer and an heir to a New York real estate fortune, would become a resident producer for the company. Mr. Roth has produced only one show on Broadway, "The Rocky Horror Show" in 2000, but found success Off Broadway with the Shakespeare-inspired disco revue "The Donkey Show," which has been running for six years. In explaining the appointment, Mr. Landesman praised Mr. Roth's "taste, smarts and passion," and said he would "connect Jujamcyn with a new generation of theatrical productions and audiences." Last summer, Mr. Roth, whose father is Steven Roth, the chairman of Vornado Realty Trust, had been rumored to be interested in buying part of Jujamcyn, but yesterday Mr. Landesman said no money had changed hands in relation to his announcement. He did acknowledge, however, that Mr. Roth's financial position was enviable. "We all live in the real world," he said. "But Jordan is an incredibly talented person."
