Dinner with a view: Seattle Great Wheel launches four-course meal service

Seattle's newest dining experience is not for those who are afraid of heights.

With indoor dining restrictions lifted, the iconic Great Wheel on Pier 57 has opened a luxurious four-course dinner service for those looking to elevate their dining game just in time for Valentine's Day.

"Assemble 4 people, friends or family and make reservations for the dinner experience of a lifetime over 200 feet above the Salish Sea," says a description of the dinner on Resy.

The meal itself, which comes from The Fisherman's Restaurant also located on the pier, costs $152.50 per person and includes an appetizer of prawn cocktails and Caesar salad followed by an entree of grilled salmon, vegetables and rice pilaf.

A wine pairing can also be added to complement the meal.

The evening is topped off with a decadent dessert of chocolate pot de creme — and 360-degree views of the city and Elliott Bay, of course.

While the 175-foot-tall wheel is open for all ages, the dining service is limited to those 21 and over. Additionally, given that the menu is set, the Wheel said it is not able to accommodate dietary restrictions and allergies, although a vegetarian meal option is available upon request.

The new venture represents a shift in business strategy for the privately owned pier amid the pandemic. Following a summer that saw little tourist activity, the pier was forced to close in September following the dramatic collapse of nearby Pier 58, dealing another blow to hard-hit businesses.

The adjacent pier, which also includes the tourist-hotspot Miner's Landing, was able to reopen in December after much of the damaged pier was removed by the city.

Reservations for dining at the Great Wheel can be made through Resy.
