Kuma’s Brings Burgers & Metal to Fulton Market Next Week

Is Fulton Market/West Loop, a trendy area for fine dining, ready for the beefy burgers and thunderous metal from Kuma’s Corner? Kuma’s owners probably don’t care, as today they announced the opening of their third Chicago location. The music will start blasting on May 24 at 852 W. Fulton Market.

Kuma’s patties are thick and each burger is named after a band—mostly of the metal genre with a tinge of punk rock—and stacked high with toppings. It’s a decidedly different experience than Au Cheval’s thinner griddled patties located just a five-minute walk south on Randolph Street. The area’s full of burger choices with Umami Burger already there and with Shake Shack planning to open a location later this year. Kuma’s also has locations in suburban Schaumburg and in Indianapolis.

The West Loop location comes with TVs above the bar. It appears they have the technology to put on the game for all the West Loop bros, which is a departure from the original. The interiors are a bit more industrial than the original in Avondale and at Kuma’s Too in Lincoln Park. Jourdon Gullett—who painted a mural at the Lincoln Park location and handled art on Kuma’s website—did some art on the bar top. Management posted a few photos of the space on their Facebook page.
