World Heritage City Lab: concluding the 10th Anniversary of the UNESCO HUL Recommendation in Córdoba

On 12, 13 and 14 September 2022, the World Heritage City Lab concluded the 10th Anniversary of the UNESCO Recommendation on the Historic Urban Landscape (HUL Recommendation) celebrations in Córdoba, Spain.

This concluding event was organised by the UNESCO World Heritage Centre, World Monuments Fund Spain, and the Municipality of Córdoba, with the collaboration of American Express, the Mosque-Cathedral of Córdoba and ICOMOS Spain.

The event gathered experts, professionals, the private sector, academia and civil society to address the topics of traditional building practices and local communities to discuss holistic historic city management for resilience and sustainable development.

A mosaic of cases from around the world were presented which focused on historic cities and their sustainable management of heritage, adaptation and resilience, and the engagement of local communities. The objective is to discuss transversality and coordinated strategies for the historic city in the current context. Participants explored the replicability of previous experiences and recommendations, discussed their relevance at a global scale and defined new ways for collaborative action.
