"Not integrated with LibraryThing's Local Book Search"
Local Book Search is accomplished in a number of ways, depending on what kind of institution you are:
Bookstores
- Anyone who lists inventory with AbeBooks is potentially integrated. If you aren't already, let us know and we'll connect you.
- A number of major chains and large stores—B&N, Waterstones, Indigo/Chapters, Shakespeare & Co., Powells—have special arrangements with us. The arrangements are, of course, entirely unpaid on both sides.
- We do not have any arrangement with IndieBound, despite trying for years. It is not our fault that Indies aren't represented. it is theirs. However, a few indies send us their IndieBound feeds. If you are interested, let us know.
- If you are another store, let us know what you have in terms of export formats.
Libraries
Basically, you need to give us your MARC records. As this is a major undertaking, we are currently only extending the offer to libraries that participate in LibraryThing for Libraries. If you participate, this page has a setting for whether you want your holdings shown or not.
If you are a non-LibraryThing for Libraries library interested in sharing your holdings, send us an email. At worst, we'll keep it around until we have such a feature.
Other institutions
If you have a bookish venue that doesn't qualify as a library or physical bookstore, please use any of the other types available when adding the venue (Fair/Festival; Other (physical) places; Online and other non-places; Little Libraries; TV, Radio, Podcasts).
