We have two dogs, one named Olive and one named Magic. We will sometimes call our dog Magic, Black Magic because he's a black dog. Thankfully, we have found our solution. Veep: Season 1. The comedic antics of Julia Louis-Dreyfus as vice president of the United States thoroughly captivate and engage our dogs attention. While previously they would run around wild being obnoxious, they are now completely engaged in the television. And, thankfully, because we turn Veep: Season 1 on the smart television it plays the first six episodes guaranteeing us at least 5 hours of worry-free time away from home. As for the program itself, I have only seen the first 10-15 minutes but I have seen it everyday for the past few months. From what I've seen, it looks funny and unique. I haven't seen enough to rate it myself but my dogs have never been more well behaved so for that I give it 5 stars.

I kinda discounted the people who told me this was good. Mainly because after watching a couple episodes of The New Adventures of Old Christine, I didn't think JLD had any range as an actress. I was picturing a ditzy woman dropping F bombs and a cast of clowns, especially since I knew The Motherlover from Arrested Development was in this..

The entire cast is excellent-- I particularly like the toned down Buster Bluth and Anna Chlumsky. And I think JLD is very believable as the Veep Selina Meyer. She has the self awareness of Sarah Palin and the personal warmth and empathy of Hillary. I have no issue with the profanity, which seems to be the number one reason people give for hating Veep. Actually, without the over the top vulgarity, you wouldn't even know this was a satire. The profanity illustrates how those in power conduct themselves with impunity. If I was involved in politics, I'm sure I could relate to Selina Meyer's comment, "I feel my soul sliding out my a--".

Isn't that a great line? "No! It's vulgar and I won't stand for it. One Star!! Now, Jim Gaffigan and Last Man Standing. Those are funny shows!" This is my favorite kind of humor, and I really wish Amazon would have picked up The Onion because so few shows have the right balance of crudeness, irreverence, and intelligence. 4+ stars.

I think you need to sit and watch two or three episodes to really get into this show, it is one of those kinds of shows where you get attached to all the minor characters and their banter and office jabber throughout the series, and the more you watch the more you're hooked. It is a bit fast paced, which I Iike, and I love the character relationships and the complexities of Selena herself. She's really a piece of work in the most entertaining way possible and Julia Louis Dryfus (sorry cannot spell her name) deserves all the accolades she gets from this show. Gary is a riot and I love when he snaps, Amy is flawlessly portrayed and I love the way she only barely recognizes the detriment of her life being consumed by her work and makes vain and passive attempts to make it seem otherwise. She's a force to be reckoned with and I have especially loved her this current season. I like how although the characters are all comrades, there's not really any loyalty there (except Gary) as they all are playing a political game and looking out for themselves. That kind of very real dynamic is portrayed nicely here without making them seem like evil people you hate. You always understand the underhanded things they do and in that sort of a funny way this caricature of American politics almost gives you sympathy for the complexities of the chess game that it is, the constant scratching of backs and deceit.

Julia Louis-Dreyfus was always my favourite Seinfeld character (Elaine), in my opinion the funniest. She's even funnier in this series as the lead character. It is supposed to be a satire of Washington politicos, conniving politicians and their obsequious pandering operatives. It is very much is that, a crazy depiction of situations and interactions. I offer this as a complement, not as a criticism. When I watched the series the first time I thought it was very funny albeit an over-the-top depiction of Washington politics. Now, in retrospect I was probably wrong and the series is actually a far more accurate depiction of today's Washington scene. No matter what your political bent may be, real Washington is a partisan clown show..

Veep ist eine amerikanische Dramedy Serie mit Julia Louis-Dreyfus (u.a. Seinfeld) in der Hauptrolle. In der Serie geht es um die Vizepräsidentin der USA und ihre Probleme mit dem Amt und täglich neuen Problemen.

Nachdem es nicht für das Amt der US Präsidentin gereicht hat wird Selina Meyer die US Vizepräsidentin der Vereinigten Staaten. Und muss als erstes erkennen wie unwichtig das neue Amt in Wirklichkeit ist. Ein inkompetentes Team und drn Drang in Fettnäpfchen zu treten erschweren ihr Ihren Alltag im Staatsbüro noch um einiges.

Ich muss zugeben bei dem Thema Politik in Kombination mit einer Sitcom und Humor eher verhalten gewesen zu sein. Auf die Serie bin ich schon vor einiger Zeit gestoßen konnte mich bisher aber nicht durchringen sie mir auch zu kaufen und anzugucken. Sicherlich auch weil deutsche Versuche hier eher weniger gut waren.

Doch Veep, Ooooh Mein Gott, wie Genial Bitte schön ist Veep. Ich meine, ich weiß, wusste das Julia Louis-Dreyfus eine lustige und tolle Schauspielerin ist die nur eine Bereicherung für jede Serie oder Film sein kann. Ich liebe auch Seinfeld und Elain (gespielt von Julia Louis-Dreyfus) war hier meine Lieblings Figur. Aber wie Genial Bitte schön ist Veep, und Sie (Julia Louis-Dreyfus) in Veep.

Die Serie ist toll. Und hat mich mehr als begeistert. Und das nicht nur durch die Veep. Auch wenn Julia Louis-Dreyfus nicht nur eine geniale sondern wohl auch die ideale Besetzung für die Rolle ist. Aber auch das Umfeld, die weiteren Darsteller, die Kulissen und die Story stimmen und sind zusammen stimmig.

Die Darsteller sind durchweg gut gewählt und besetzt. Wobei ich vorher nur Julia Louis-Dreyfus kannte. Die anderen Namen und Gesichter waren mir vor Veep vollkommen unbekannt.

Die Kulissen u.a. das Büro von der Veep und ihrem Stab sehen toll und besonders sehr realistisch aus. Man könnte hier auch eine ernstgemeinte Serie über die Veep produzieren oder Biden (den aktuellen (2015) US Vizepräsidenten) hinsetzen und arbeiten lassen. Was mir auch gefällt (und bei den ähnlichen deutschen Produktion immer geärgert hat) ist das man erschafft versucht es trotz des Formats (Sitcom) alles realistisch wirken zu lassen. Zum Beispiel man sehe sich nur mal die Auto Fahrten (samt Karawane) an.

Die Story ist weder überzogen noch aufdringlich sondern sehr dezent. Die Darsteller stehen im Vordergrund und tragen auch die Geschichten. Das ist sicherlich Mutig (gerade zu Beginn gewesen) und zu Recht erfolgreich geworden.

Die Blu-Ray Veröffentlichung kann hier gut mithalten. Man bekommt auf zwei Blu-Ray DVDs alle 8 Folgen der ersten Staffel samt Extras. Die Folgen sind jeweils auf den zwei Blu-Ray DVDs verteilt (4 und 4).
Ein Booker oder eine Übersicht über die Folgen bekommt man ausserhalb des Blu-Ray Menüs nicht. Hier aber kann man bei der Übersicht über die Folgen auch eine kurze Inhaltsangabe lesen (habe ich so auch noch nicht gesehen gehabt).
Als Extras bekommt man Making-of Veep, Nicht verwendete Szenen, Anti Adipositas Werbespot, Verpatzte Szenen: Anti Adipositas Werbespot, Gouverneur Chang: Die Rechtfertigung und Gouverneur Chang: Verpatzte Szenen und Audiokommentare zu allen 8 Episoden.

Veep ist eine tolle die nicht nur eine geniale Hauptdarstellerin hat sondern auch weitere gute Darsteller sowie tolle Kulissen und Geschichten. Die Blu-Ray Veröffentlichung kann hier mithalten und wer die Serie mag wird hier sehr zufrieden sein.

Je viens seulement commenter sur la série qui est pour moi excellente et à mourir de rire.
Malheureusement étant une série humour il s'agit d'une histoire de gout. Cela dépend de ce qui vous fait rire en général.
De mon côté je suis fan de The Office, de Modern Family and de Veep.
Par exemple How I met Your mother et The Big Bang Theory, me font sourire voir rire de temps en temps mais pas de la même manière que les trois citées précédemment, qui me font elles, pleurer de rire..
