I've been fortunate to drive some pretty cool cars. It comes with the job. This spring, I took the wheel of the Ford GT on a Utah racetrack. It was exhilarating. The night before, I lay awake in anticipation. The adrenaline was already pumping. I was focused and ready for a rare opportunity.
That's exactly how I feel today as I take over as Autoblog's Editor-in-Chief. I could not be more excited to lead the premier automotive website. Autoblog has everything we need to reach new heights. We strive to bring you the most important car news, reviews, videos, and shopping information you need as an enthusiast and a consumer. It's a heady task, and I feel great responsibility to you, the reader, viewer, and user of Autoblog. I'll do my best to hear your voices, bring you the content you want, and make this site valuable to you.
The future is bright, and we're working on things you might not even know about. Our UPSHIFT conference is set for October in Detroit, and we're excited to drive the conversation on mobility and future transportation. We'll always have high-octane blood, but Autoblog is embracing this new era through UPSHIFT and our robust coverage of automotive technology.
A little bit about me: I've been at Autoblog for three years as a Senior Editor, so I feel well-prepared to take the reins of something that means so much to so many. Before that I wrote and edited for Automobile and Autoweek magazines, and my writings have appeared in Automotive News and The Detroit News. I'm a sports nut, love to read, and enjoy history. Saturday mornings are good for coffee, scrambled eggs, and maybe golf.
We added some amazing new people to our staff. Greg Rasa joined Autoblog as Managing Editor after a long career at The Seattle Times. He's an expert wordsmith, and we're thrilled to have someone of his stature. John Beltz Snyder also came onboard as our Senior Editor overseeing AutoblogGreen. He's an excellent editor and places a premium on the craft of writing. He's contributed to our Green pages for years, and we're happy to have an experienced hand lead this essential part of our coverage. I'm pleased to have veterans Alex Kierstein and Jeremy Korzeniewski and the new generation of Reese Counts and Joel Stocksdale also anchoring our editing staff.
Finally, I offer a tip of the hat to my predecessor, Michael Austin, who departs straight into a new adventure. He elevated Autoblog to heights previously unknown and leaves this site a better place.
Autoblog is an evolving, living, breathing thing, and you are a key part of it. I could not be more excited to embark on this journey. I invite you to join me.
