Maintaining a Secure and Respectful Campus
We expect that all members of our diverse and inclusive community will conduct themselves in a way that respects the rights of others.
Baylor College of Medicine is committed to providing its faculty, staff, students and guests with a safe and secure environment. Learn about Campus Safety and Security. One way we gauge our progress is with our Annual Security Report, provided in compliance with the Jeanne Clery Disclosure of Campus Security Policy and Campus Crime Statistics Act. The College has a very low incidence of crimes reportable under the Clery Act.
We also survey our community members. In 2016 the College was one of 34 institutions to take part in the Education Advisory Board Survey of Unwanted Sexual Experiences, a national research forum’s assessment of students’ perceptions about the climate on campus. While our data compare favorably with that of the survey cohort, any sexual harassment involving our community is unacceptable.
In response, we are reviewing nondiscrimination policies, updating procedures and implementing training sessions across the institution. Know that violating our policies has consequences. But also know that the College has leaders with the expertise and resources to help survivors and bystanders. We strongly encourage the prompt reporting of discrimination, harassment and crime to local law enforcement or a College advisor.
