According to John Gambadoro the DBacks are paying $24 million of the remaining $77 million on Greinke’s contract.

This is an all-in trade. The Astros have definitely made the biggest splash at the trade deadline. The Astros have made themselves the favorites for the World Series in 2019, acquiring a pitcher with 197 career wins and a 3.36 ERA. But at what cost?
The Astros lose a lot of the their future pitching strength and their second best hitting prospect to get a thirty-five year old pitcher with declining velocity.
Another aspect, how does Greinke’s contract, even with the pay-down by the D-Backs, affect contract negotiations for players like Gerrit Cole, George Springer, Michael Brantley and others?
Greinke is having an excellent year, despite his age, posting a 2.87 ERA, and 3.68 xFIP.
