The Best Horror Movies Streaming Now on Hulu

Last Updated: July 2, 2024

Hulu got the memo that July is the time to go big or go home. They’re bringing the summer blockbuster energy with titles like The Quake and 2012. The streamer is also adding four movies from the Alien franchise to help us finish our homework before Alien: Romulus crashes into theaters next month. They are also adding season 12 of Futurama and a new thrilling series called Red Swan. So, it will be very easy to lose a couple of days streaming all the recently added titles this month. However, here are five movies that I am prioritizing and think might also deserve your attention.

Cult Killer

A woman investigates the murder of her mentor and finds herself working with his killer to uncover town secrets. I’m forever playing the losing game of trying to see all genre movies of any given year. So, I will be crossing this 2024 title off my list immediately. It also has Antonio Banderas in the cast, and I will never say no to seeing him in a thriller. Whatever this turns out to be, I’m excited.

Femme

The victim of a homophobic attack turns the tables on one of the attackers he encounters in a gay sauna. I love British thrillers almost as much as I love revenge. Also, people who caught this at festivals last year have been raving about this title. So, this is one of the movies I’m going into with high expectations, and I cannot wait to see how this goes.

Get Out

A Black man visits his girlfriend’s white family and soon finds out there’s something much more sinister going on than the regular microaggressions. This film alerted us that Jordan Peele and Monkeypaw Productions did not come to play with us. It was also Daniel Kaluuya’s breakout role after years of being underutilized. I plan to act like I don’t own a copy and hit play while Get Out is on Hulu a few times this month.

Source Code

A soldier takes part in an experiment that allows him to step inside the body of a dead man to relive his last few moments and discover the identity of the man who bombed a commuter train. I’m here for the science fiction and the thrillers with the highest stakes. It also doesn’t hurt that the cast includes Jake Gyllenhaal, Michelle Monaghan, and Vera Farmiga. I’m happy Hulu is bringing this one to the app to remind us that we used to be a society.

Tragedy Girls

Two teens grow tired of waiting for tragedy to strike so they can cover it online. They decide to be the deadly change that they want to see in the world. I have been in love with Tragedy Girls for years and think it’s a fun entry into the slasher comedy genre. I also owe it a rewatch because I watched Abigail and didn’t realize Kevin Durand looked familiar, even though I have watched this movie at least eight times this decade. Shame on me!
