The Best Horror Movies Streaming Now on Paramount+

Last updated: June 11, 2024

Paramount+ continues to assemble the most random genre programming this month. The streamer is adding movies like Anomalisa, The Last Airbender, Unidentified Objects, and Vampire in Brooklyn to its library. They are also releasing the newest season of their thrilling series, Mayor of Kingstown. So, there is something for everyone in this chaotic smorgasbord. Although, most of these titles are not the heavy hitters we would expect from the app. However, I didn’t let that stop me from finding five movies I’m glad to see land on Paramount+ this June.

Check out my picks for the month below.

Black Sheep (1956)

A mad scientist kidnaps people and cuts into their heads as he looks for a cure for his wife’s brain tumor. I can’t be the only one who wants to see what the fake brains of the 1950s looked like on an indie horror movie budget. If they even show us the goods, that is. Not only am I trying to see more horror before 1960, but this gem also has Bela Lugosi in the cast. I wouldn’t be able to call myself an aspiring horror historian if I didn’t hit play while it’s on Paramount+.

Dog Day Afternoon

What should be an easy bank robbery goes horribly wrong for three amateur criminals. I need to revisit this as an adult, so I’m happy Paramount+ is adding it this June. I saw this movie a few times as a kid. However, I was not old enough to fully appreciate what Al Pacino, John Cazale, Chris Sarandon, and Charles Durning were giving us. I am also curious to see how I feel now that I know more about the people these characters were inspired by

From Dusk Till Dawn

Two brothers kidnap a family and unwittingly take them to a bar overrun by vampires. This was my first Robert Rodriguez movie, and I spent some summers as a kid wanting to be Salma Hayek without the snake. So, of course, I plan to rewatch this Harvey Keitel, George Clooney, and Juliette Lewis cinematic masterpiece this summer. The streamer is also adding the two sequels, so I plan to make it a day and get the closure I have been putting off all these decades.

Kiss The Girls

A victim escapes a serial kidnapper and then helps the police track her captor down. This was part of that era in the late 90s where big-name celebrities were doing the most random thrillers. This one has Morgan Freeman, Ashley Judd, and Cary Elwes, so it had my attention from the second we rented it at a Hollywood Video. I can’t wait to revisit it as an adult who is not quite as starstruck by the cast as I was when I was a child. Maybe I will have notes this time.

The Net

A computer programmer stumbles upon a government secret and then has to go on the run. Speaking of big-name celebrities doing random thrillers, this Sandra Bullock movie was the moment. They were preaching against becoming a shut-in who only interacts with people via the internet but they made it look really cool. I’m starting to wonder if this movie is why so many of us work from home now. Either way, Paramount+ is pushing my nostalgia button with this title, and I know what I must do.
