About FLAC Files
Payment Information
License Policy
What is FLAC?
FLAC, or Free Lossless Audio Codec, is an audio format known for lossless compression. Unlike other formats, FLAC files reduce file size without sacrificing quality. It supports tagging, cover art, and quick seeking. FLAC is open and royalty-free, though its compatibility with portable audio devices and audio systems is somewhat limited compared to MP3. However, FLAC is increasingly supported by more hardware devices.
Playing FLAC Files on a MAC
FLAC (Free Lossless Audio Codec) files offer high-quality audio, but they're not natively supported on Macs. To play FLAC files, you can use the following methods:
- Use a Third-Party Music Player: Applications like VLC Media Player and Foobar2000 support FLAC files. Download and install one of these players, then open your FLAC files with the application.
- Convert FLAC to a Compatible Format: Convert FLAC files to formats like MP3 or ALAC using tools like Audacity or an online converter. MP3 conversions may lose some quality, while ALAC retains the original quality.
- Use a FLAC-Compatible Media Player App: Apps such as VOX or Elmedia Player, available in the Mac App Store, support FLAC and offer features like high-quality playback and equalizer controls.
With these methods, you can enjoy your FLAC music files on your Mac.
File Formats and Quality Explained
Our albums are available in various formats, including 16-bit and 24-bit FLAC and MP3, to accommodate your preferences and player compatibility. Each album is derived from a single high-quality source. Older albums usually originate from CD quality sources, while newer albums may be from higher resolution studio master files.

Classical Music Copyright Information
It's a misconception that all classical music is copyright-free due to its age. Recordings less than 50 years old and compositions of composers who died less than 70 years ago are still under copyright.
Gifting Music
To gift music, you can download and transfer the files to the recipient. Ensure you delete the files from your device if you're not keeping a copy. For gifting and keeping a copy, purchase an additional license at checkout.
