The Election Commission on Wednesday imposed a 48-hour ban on Bharat Rashtra Samithi president and former Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao from campaigning due to his “objectionable” remarks against the Congress.
The EC deemed Rao’s statements during a press conference in Sircilla on April 5 as violating the provisions of the model code of conduct and its advisories.
The ban on KCR will be effective from 8 pm on Wednesday.
Following Congress leader Randeep Singh Surjewala, Rao becomes the second politician to face a 48-hour campaigning ban during the ongoing Lok Sabha elections.
