Police investigation reveals overspeeding as probable cause

Varun Sharma, the Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) in Patiala, indicated that initial findings suggest overspeeding was the cause of the accident.

The accident occurred between 1:30 and 2:00 am. The four students in the Ford Endeavour died instantly, while the Isuzu pickup overturned, and its occupants survived.

Police from the Bakhshiwala station responded promptly, initiating a rescue operation. The collision’s impact was so severe that tractors were needed to clear the debris and extract the bodies from the wreckage.

According to police sources, four of the students were in their final year, and two were in their third year.
