Those are the call let ters assigned to the new li- censee of Channel 3-TV by the Federal Communica-., tions Commission in Washington, D.C. That is about the only difference the viewing audience will see, oxplains Doug Elle- son, the now station man ager. EUeson said there will be no drastic changes in the station’s program ming, as it will continue bringing all tho quality NBC programs and local foaturos, with emphasis on enlarging and improving local and national news coverage, oa woll as public affairs. The new management is retaining many of the present staff, and will make additions wherever necessary. So as to prevont any in terruption of broadcast service to the public and effect an orderly transition in tho takeover, Valloy Broadcasting Co., the new owners, have leased the present Channel 3 studio and facilities on a tempo rary basis, while a com- peltely new, 20,000- square-foot facility is un derconstruction. When completed, early this spring, the new facility will bo one of the largest and most modern TV stu-. dios in the West. The loca tion of tho now TV-3 transmitter and antenna is boing changed to tho top of Black Mountain, which is 3,462 foot abovo sea level. This move, according to William Kracmor, the sta tion’s chief engineer, will result in wider coverage and a clearer picture for Channel 3 viewers.
