This group is open to all people who would like to group-read books that meet ONE OR MORE of the following criteria: - The book author is born in an African country - The book author lives predominantly in an African country - The book location is in an African country I would like to focus predominantly on fiction, but will share a biographical book every once in a while. The plan is to tackle one book a month. Sometimes, I like to throw caution to the wind and have two books by the same author in a month. After the end of each month, I encourage readers to engage in conversation regarding the book and leave their personal reviews, even if a one-liner :)

If you love world literature, translated works, travel writing, or exploring the world through books, you have come to the right place! ATW80 began in 2009 as a challenge on TNBBC. The separate group was established in 2011. Anyone can join and participate in the challenges or readings at any time. Challenge participation is not a requirement of joining. Anyone who loves reading books from around the world is welcome here. The main purpose of this group is to travel the world through books, experiencing new authors and cultures along the way. Want to read about the world? We have close to 50,000 books cataloged by setting and more are added each week. I personally started reading around the world in 2008. This venture has introduced me to far off lands, fresh viewpoints, and many new authors I might not have discovered otherwise. [close] Welcome to The Main Read Book Club! The Main Read is a digital platform where the avid reader can come together and chat about books and their reading experiences. The aim is to read one book a month and then we set a date to “meet-up” to discuss, share views, opinions, etc. We can also use this platform to vote for genres and “The Main Read” for the month. The genres will vary; Fiction, Non-fiction, Politics, Finance, Biographies, Autobiographies, Science Fiction, Drama, Self-Help, Religion & Spirituality, etc. The books will be picked by members suggestions. If we have a lot of suggestions, we can add them to the suggested reading list or possibly read two books in one month.
