Just bought 1 V :)
Nothing about network performance? Are the comm components the same as last year's? Any new bands supported?
Xperia 5 V did not have the aptx lossless as well. While Xperia 5 IV did have it. Sony is slowly losing them without offering any real equivalent.

Jab, 03 Jun 2024See aptx snapdragon page. Xperia 1 VI is there. But not among those with the lossless version.... moreHmm. That's odd, given that the site clearly says 1 mark V has aptx lossless. I'm guessing there'll be updated info on the mark VI.

The GSMArena summary regarding cost could apply to pretty much almost any yearly flagship; (as you can get a S23 Ultra for almost half the price of the S24 Ultra now) as the increments are relatively smaller and smaller; as I think GSMA have touched on before it's the midrange handsets who reap the most benefits recently, such as getting an OLED panel and 120
Possibly a 3 way comparison would be better, so people can see what has changed between the Xperia 1 IV, V & VI
The longer battery life, brighter screen, longer optical zoom & telemacro may be good enough arguments to persuade some potential buyers.
Also some networks offer incentives to yearly upgrades of your handsets, so a decent trade in for a newer shiner handset
Anonymous, 03 Jun 2024Ah sorry, I must admit I did not know about aptx lossless. Yeah seems to be the best, if you ... moreYeah. But it is relatively close to lossless. Asus phones support the codec. And some others as well. Sennheiser Momentum True Wireless 4 has it. So does cheaper SoundPEATS Air4/Air4 Pro. So hopefully soon it will be prevalent. With it I might even be able to live with a smartphone without jack. So far I do not use BT headphones.

Yeah seems to be the best, if you have the hardware.
But Qualcomm is very brave to call this lossless, because it is not.

Good comparison - thanks!
After reading this I placed an order for a green 1VI and expect to have it next week, along with some complimentary WH-1000XM5.
Should be great :)
Akinaro, 02 Jun 2024Both devices are maybe good, but that price tag on them is a joke. With all R&D and market... moreCome here when Samsung, Google and Apple selling their flagships (other than Ultras/Pro Max) for lower than 1100€ with even poor specs than Xperia 1 VI.
Anonymous, 02 Jun 2024LDAC is the future. Well and the present. It's much better than aptx in any review.Show me the review, where it is better than aptx lossless!
Deelatch, 02 Jun 2024Do you have a source that contradicts the audio specs provided by gsmarena? If you already own... moreI read that it uses a new snapdragon chip for improved Bluetooth high res connections that are also more efficient. What I'm curious about is the improved audio circuitry for wired headphones and speakers. I can't but this model where I live but I'm still curious. So far, I've yet to find a phone with as good audio quality as the LG with dedicated audio dacs.
T the Tinkerer, 02 Jun 2024I wasn't really talking about a phone not working, my dude. I was referring to someone... moreThat's what I was referring to, dude. If a device that was cutting edge when you bought it still works well, it isn't obsolete, dude. The non user replaceable battery is clearly planned obsolescence, dude. I can still get some use out of a Note 3 with a ten dollar battery I bought, dude.
Please disregard the "dude" sarcasm if your comment was not intended to be condescending. It's hard to tell these days.
Some Anonymous Prson, 02 Jun 2024Older devices don't stop working just because new models are released. They stop working... moreI wasn't really talking about a phone not working, my dude. I was referring to someone's post claiming that something will be obsolete due to some new chip/hardware coming out next year.
Me and wife's phones from 2020 (S20 FE and A71) with SD 865 and SD730 are still working perfectly fine. Whatever planned obsolescence they made doesn't seem to be working all that well. No hiccups whatsoever on my S20 FE. Not saying I don't believe MFGs don't intentionally set their devices up for eventual failure, just that it doesn't happen as soon as some people make you think. By the time it does, I'll have already bought a new device.
Jab, 01 Jun 2024Xperia 1 VI also does not have aptx Lossless. That is a significant downgrade on the newer mod... moreDo you have a source that contradicts the audio specs provided by gsmarena? If you already own the device let us know.
Akinaro, 02 Jun 2024Both devices are maybe good, but that price tag on them is a joke. With all R&D and market... moreI would rather that they sell well and encourage other manufacturers to restore expandable memory and a headphone jack. I appreciate their designs. I don't care about the profits of corporations, however. They all exploit us and destroy the environment, as well as democracy. Some are worse than others
Akinaro, 02 Jun 2024Both devices are maybe good, but that price tag on them is a joke. With all R&D and market... moreLOL oh come on give me a break. similar spec'd phones from Samsung and Apple are not going for that price why would you expect Sony to sell for that. be realistic. nobody is going to sell you a flagship phone for a midrange price. ridiculous.
