Houston forecast: Sunny and hot weekend weather, rain chances return next week

Humidity will cause the heat index or "feels like" temperatures to be in the 100s.

HOUSTON — Expect a "quiet" forecast through the rest of the weekend. If you are out and about on this Saturday, afternoon temperatures will reach 94° in Houston with winds out of the southeast at 8-10 mph. Skies will be sunny. Make sure to practice heat safety measures because conditions are going to be hot!

There is also an air quality alert for today for Houston, Galveston, and Brazoria area. Today will be an Ozone Action Day as atmospheric conditions are expected to be favorable for producing high levels of ozone at the ground level.

The "heat dome" situated out west will build over southeast Texas keeping rain out of the forecast through the weekend. Expect abundant sunshine with hot and humid temperatures. Morning temperatures will be in the upper 70s with afternoon highs in the upper 90s. Feels Like temperatures will be in the 100s. Make sure to practice heat safety measures if you are spending prolonged time outdoors.

By Monday the heat dome will retreat back towards Mexico, and it will open up the door for showers and storms. Storm overage will be isolated and mainly north of Houston, but we cannot rule out an isolated storm or two each and every day next week.

Unfortunately, the humidity is not going away through the next seven days. For the rest of the weekend, expect sunny skies with highs in the 90s. When factoring humidity, feels like temperatures will be in the 100s.

As the heat dome builds back towards the south over Mexico, the chance for isolated showers and storms will return heading into next week. Afternoon high temperatures will reach the 90s with overnight lows in the 70s.
