About

Welcome to the Waialua Public Library! Built by Isamu Abe Construction, our current library is the smallest public library on Oahu. In 1997, the Public Library Association (division of American Library Association) honored it as the “Best Small/Rural Library in America.” In 2013, our library celebrated its 85th Anniversary in grand-style.

Upcoming events at this branch

Children's Storytime

Join us Saturday at 10:00am for story time! We’ll sing songs, read a few simple stories, then make a craft or do an activity. Great fun for 2 – 5 year-olds and their parents or caregivers.

Anyone who requires an auxiliary aid or service for effective communication, or a modification of policies or procedures to participate in a program, service or activity should contact library staff as soon as possible. Advance requests 48 hours or more before the event are encouraged, but not required.

"Year of the Forest Birds" logo

2024 is officially Ka Makahiki o Nā Manu Nahele (Year of the Forest Birds). Staff from the Department of Land and Natural Resources’ Division of Forestry & Wildlife will share information about Hawai‘i’s birds, the threats they face, and efforts to resist extinction. The interactive program will also allow you to hear the different birdsongs, watch a brief documentary featuring hula and other practices related to forest birds, take a virtual field trip to a conservation center, and view some creative clips of a youth video challenge on forest birds. Stickers and activity sheets will be offered.

This free one-hour event is suitable for ages 5 and older.

For a complete schedule of “Year of the Forest Birds” programs, view our online events calendar.
