One popular baby name remains the top choice for parents across England and Wales.

Choosing the name of your newborn can often be a tough decision, with many parents taking inspiration from popular culture or opting for more 'traditional' names that have never really gone out of fashion. Through the years, names and trends have come and fallen out of favour, but we have seen some old-world names for babies re-emerge and others that have never quite gone out of style.

Recently, the ECHO took a look at top baby names loved across Liverpool a decade ago in 2014. But there are also a number of baby names, according to new figures from the Office for National Statistics, that are favourites for new parents.

Noah is the top boy’s name, particularly popular in four regions of the country - the North East, the East Midlands, the East of England, and Wales.

Muhammad, meanwhile, is top in the North West, Yorkshire and the Humber, the West Midlands, and London and Amelia is second in every region, with the exceptions of London (Olivia), the South East (Isla), the South West (Florence) and Wales (Isla). You can see the full data from the ONS below.
