Nothing is more seductive than a high fashion crime story, and Ridley Scott’s House of Gucci wraps it up with a star-studded cast that hits it off with glitz, glamor, and murder.
Ridley Scott’s upcoming crime drama House of Gucci dropped its first full trailer and a series of posters on July 30, featuring film stars r, Jared Leto, Jeremy Irons, and Al Pacino.
Based on Sara Gay Forden’s 2001 novel and dramatizing the events that surrounded the family empire behind Italian fashion house of Gucci, the story follows the assassination of Guccio Gucci’s grandson, Maurizio, played by Adam Driver, by his ex-wife and once-known “Lady Gucci” Patrizia Reggiani, portrayed by Lady Gaga.
They had been one of Italy’s first celebrity power couples until Maurizio left Reggiani for a younger woman. Reggiani was then tried and convicted of Maurizio Gucci’s murder in 1995, sentenced to 16 years at Milan’s San Vittore Prison and given the nickname Black Widow. She was released back in 2016 on parole as a jewelry design consultant.
Though the remaining Gucci descendants of the fashion house expressed worry and concern over the movie overstepping its boundary between reality and fiction, the franchise has yet to address this.
Jared Leto stars as Paolo Gucci, with over five hours of makeup to render him almost unrecognizable, Al Pacino as Aldo Gucci, Jeremy Irons as Rodolf Gucci, Jack Huston as Domenico De Sole, Reeve Carney as Tom Ford, Salma Hayek as Giuseppina Auiremma, Camille Cottin as Paola Franchi, Mădălina Diana Ghenea as Sophia Loren, Mehdi Nebbou as Said, and Miloud Mourad Benamara as Omar.
The movie wraps up its filming in May and is due in theatres on November 24, 2021.
