As Pride Month kicks off, the anthems of love, freedom, and expression are louder than ever. Davaoeño singer-songwriter Paul Pablo joins the celebration with his latest single, “Atin Ang Gabi,” a power-pop anthem that urges listeners to embrace a life full of adventures and possibilities.

Paul Pablo, who grew up in a conservative town and attended a Catholic university, shared his struggles with being true to his identity as a gay man.

“I was out there, but I always feared stepping out of my comfort zone,” he recounted.

Through his journey, he has now fully embraced his identity and wants to share that joy with his audience. “I wrote this song to remind myself and my community that the darkness may be scary, but it holds wonders. With a sense of community, we will get through the night with determination.”

Known for addressing societal issues through his music, Paul Pablo created “Atin Ang Gabi” during a Music Camp hosted by Warner Music Philippines. He collaborated with singer-songwriter Sam Akins, Filipino-Dutch producer Xerxes Bakker, and Davao-based musician Jhay Ehidio. The track was mixed by Jorel Corpus and mastered by Jett Galindo.

Since launching his music career, Pablo has performed on numerous stages and won several awards, including the Best Cover Art award at the Awit Awards 2022 for his single “Kalawakan.” He has committed to making music full-time, relocating to Manila to further his career as an all-around performer.

Paul Pablo is set to perform at Love Laban 2 Everyone! Pride PH Festival 2024 tomorrow, June 22 at Quezon Memorial Circle. To celebrate Pride Month, he has also curated a special “Atin Ang Gabi” playlist featuring songs from fellow queer and ally artists, including P-pop girl group BINI, internet favorites Maris Racal and Sassa Gurl, and Drag Race Philippines alumna Marina Summers.

“Atin Ang Gabi” is now available on streaming platforms, and the “Atin Ang Gabi” playlist can be found on Spotify.
