Many were left stunned when it emerged that 72-year-old Bill Belichick was engaged in a romantic relationship with 24-year-old Jordon Hudson, and Cam Newton has issued a stark warning to the young woman.
It's a tale as old as time for an elderly man who has accumulated a lot of wealth, they tend to attract younger women, and that has certainly been the case for Belichick.
Whilst he is no longer coaching in the NFL, interest in Belichick's private life has ballooned, not least since he starting dating somebody who was not even one year old when he took the job with the New England Patriots.
Why has Cam Newton gotten involved?
Obviously, Cam Newton is a very outspoken individual, but there is also a sense he feels a kind of loyalty towards Belichick.
The former Patriots coach signed Newton to replace Tom Brady in New England at a time when the rest of the NFL teams felt his career had reached an end.
He appeared to be talking directly to Jordon Hudson when he made his statements, although it's unclear if she will take any notice.
"I tried to feel to this as best as I know how," Newton told the 4th and 1 Podcast.
"Jordon, stop your s**t. Stop your s**t. Stop your s**t. It's nothing about Bill Belichick that you really like outside of his resume...
"He's Bill f***ing Belichick, and call me crazy, but somebody has to say this, and whoever her parents, whoever her social circle is, whoever her friends are, are telling her the same thing.
"But 24, bro? I don't even know if this is real or not, bro. C'mon. ... You mean to tell me there ain't other 24-year-olds that can't date Miss Hudson?"
