Road(compressed)

Roads,[1] also called Bridges,[2] are objects in the Game Boy version of Donkey Kong. When Mario jumps at a road item (also known as an Arrow Block),[3] the environment pauses, and the player has to place the road to any free point in the level. The road then expands to the left and to the right of the chosen point as much as it can. The road acts as a platform that Mario can stand on, throw the key onto, and climb on with an (also placed) ladder. The road can also act as a ceiling for the many enemies that climb up walls and across ceilings. Roads are timed and disappear after the time has passed. This timer is indicated with music that starts playing as soon as the road is placed and gets faster gradually. The timer can be reset if Mario places another road within the first road's time limit, or any other placeable objects such as ladders and Jump Stands. After disappearing, the road can then be placed with the road item again.
