WiFi stands for Wireless Fidelity. A wireless local area network uses high frequency radio signals to transmit and receive date over distances of a few hundred feet. WiFi allows you to connect to the Internet through your wireless device without being plugged into a phone, DSL or cable connection.

Library staff are unable to offer technical support. You should be familiar with your device and know how to set it up for wireless access. You can contact your device manufacturer or a computer store for assistance.

If you encounter any technical difficulties at the library, you may sign up to use one of our public Internet terminals.

You will need to provide your own equipment to access the wireless network, including a device (PDA, laptop, etc), wireless network card, mouse pads, power strips, and any other applicable equipment.

If you want to listen to audio you will need to bring your own headphones.

You can plug into a free wall outlet that is not connected to our staff areas, public library computer areas or other library electrical equipment (copiers, etc). Please be aware that some branches have limited wall outlets so it is always advisable to have a fully charged battery in your device.

You may use the wireless network during the hours that the library is open. Check the SAPL website or your local branch library for library hours.

Your connection time is limited only by library operating hours. You may use the wireless network during the hours that the library is open.

You can access information on the Internet. Please be aware that any use of our wireless network means that you accept our Rules Governing Internet Use. You will see these rules on your screen when you access the Internet from your wireless device. You must click on the “I agree” button to get access. If you do not follow the Rules Governing Internet Use, staff reserve the right to terminate your access.

There is no charge to connect to the Library wireless network with your device.

No. The wireless network is not connected to the library printers or any additional hardware or software. You may save your work on your peripheral storage device and sign up to print on our public Internet terminals for a printing fee.

The library recommends that customers do not use the Library's Wireless Network for the transfer of sensitive data (credit card numbers, bank account numbers, social security or other private information). You are responsible for your level of protection (anti-virus software) and security (firewalls, encryption, etc). The San Antonio Public Library and the City of San Antonio accepts no liability for any loss of privacy or data that customers may experience on the network.

Because staff help patrons with a variety of questions and often have to leave their desks, they cannot keep an eye on your equipment. The San Antonio Public Library and the City of San Antonio assume no responsibility for damage, theft or loss of any kind to your equipment, including software and data files.
