House building

On June 20 and 21, 2016, Nukuoro men and women gathered at the Nukuoro Community Center in Pohnpei to build a traditional Nukuoro hale. The men assembled the frame of the house, while others wove langadala for the thatched roof. After tying the thatching onto the roof frame, it was lifted up and house poles were attached to support it. The top of the roof was finished with green palm thatching, and the hale was complete.
