OSCE Special Representative Johnstone welcomes France’s collaborative efforts in the fight against trafficking in human beings

Kari Johnstone, the OSCE Special Representative and Co-ordinator for Combating Human Trafficking concluded her two-day visit to France on 4 July 2024. At the invitation of French national authorities, she engaged in constructive discussions with government officials, anti-trafficking stakeholders, and civil society organizations.

International conference strengthens criminal justice systems against trafficking of refugees from Ukraine

The conference put a focus on emerging trends in human trafficking involving refugees and how criminal justice stakeholders, including national police forces, specialized anti-trafficking police units, cybercrime police and prosecution authorities can effectively detect and prosecute traffickers while paying due attention to identification and protection of victims and prevention of the crime.

Ending impunity and delivering justice: Understanding women’s agency and consent in cases of trafficking in human beings

The event was held on the margins of the “OSCE High-level international conference on strengthening criminal justice responses to and detection of trafficking in human beings amid refugee flows from Ukraine”. Its aim was to explore the nature and complexity of agency and involvement in cases of THB specifically from the perspective of women.

Tourism with a conscience: Albanian stakeholders gather to discuss human rights due diligence in the industry

The OSCE is actively tackling human rights abuses in supply chains, especially targeting human trafficking and labor exploitation in tourism. To promote understanding of human rights due diligence for public and private sectors, a roundtable was organized by the OSCE Presence in Albania and the Office of the Special Representative and Co-ordinator for Combating Trafficking in Human Beings.

Collaborative efforts and private sector role in combating human trafficking and labour exploitation highlighted at conference and roundtable in Bulgaria

Held on 28 May 2024, the conference addressed the critical role of the private sector in overcoming these challenges and presented policy and legal developments in human rights due diligence. It also facilitated the exchange of best practices and lessons learned for identifying and mitigating human trafficking and labour exploitation risks in supply chains.

Strengthening the Role of the Private Sector in Combating Human Trafficking and Labour Exploitation in Supply Chains

The OSCE and the Council of Europe's Anti-Trafficking Division teamed up to host an interactive Business Roundtable focused on human rights due diligence. This event was organized in partnership with the United Nations Global Compact Bulgaria Network and supported by the German Helpdesk Business and Human Rights.
