For a hint at what you can expect inside, scroll on for ten surprising facts about electricity.

10 electricity fun facts

  1. Humans didn’t actually invent electricity. It already existed in nature, but we figured out fun new ways to harness it.
  2. Around a quarter of household energy use is from heating water.
  3. When a light globe is on, trillions of electrons flow through it, making it glow.
  4. Electrons have to be in a loop to flow.
  5. Coal mines are the biggest source of fossil gas emissions in Australia.
  6. ‘Renewable energy’ refers to energy made from things that can be renewed (for example, wind sun and water).
