IMAGINE THAT

 IMAGINE THAT

You tell me to imagine
A world God's not in
Telling me wars will cease
That well live together in peace

Imagine, you arrogantly say
That we give everything away
As all the nations follow the horse
White as death, of course

And I tell you, I imagined that
The horror of it knocked me flat
Imagine no hope as life presses
Where our Savior never blesses

Imagine no end to man's evil greed
To take from others what you need
Imagine Christ wasn't on that Cross
That instead we are forever lost

Some things are better not imagined
Some darkness is better not fashioned
I will not dread such a dark fate
A destiny which doesn't await

Instead I'll imagine that day
When He answers all we pray
As the Trumpet gives a welcome blast
And all this pain is finally past

Imagine in His presence we stand
Secure at last in His hand
And peace we seek, meets us at
The Gates of Heaven, imagine that
Amen

About this poem

2 As for you, you were dead in your transgressions and sins, 2 in which you used to live when you followed the ways of this world and of the ruler of the kingdom of the air, the spirit who is now at work in those who are disobedient. 3 All of us also lived among them at one time, gratifying the cravings of our flesh[a] and following its desires and thoughts. Like the rest, we were by nature deserving of wrath. 4 But because of his great love for us, God, who is rich in mercy, 5 made us alive with Christ even when we were dead in transgressions—it is by grace you have been saved. 6 And God raised us up with Christ and seated us with him in the heavenly realms in Christ Jesus Ephesians 2:1-6
