Radio54 African Panorama Broadcaster and Former Studio 263 actress Anne Nhira has been granted a state-assisted funeral by the government. Nhira who shot to fame following her breakthrough role as Vimbai Jari on the yesteryear hit soap opera, Studio 263, died on Wednesday after she succumbed to the injuries she sustained during a brutal attack by armed robbers in South Africa.

The news of Anne Nhira’s state-assisted funeral was announced by the Chief Secretary to the President and Cabinet, Dr Misheck Sibanda. In a letter written in response to Permanent Secretary for Youth, Sport, Arts and Recreation, Thokozile Chitepo, Dr Sibanda confirmed that President Emmerson Mnangagwa has approved a state-assisted funeral for the late actress.

As a special tribute, Radio54 African Panorama will also broadcast a special recorded show presented by the highly talented and popular broadcaster at 9pm UK Time/11pm CAT on Tuesday 16 March 2021. Speaking from United kingdom, the Station’s CEO Eric Knight, a close friend to the deceased confirmed, ” I am not surprised that our ‘Queen Diva’ has been instantly recognised by the government at such a level. Anne Nhira was one of the finest broadcasters I have worked with in my lifetime. She was a dedicated pan Africanist whose love for her country and desire to see Black empowerment was unquestionable. A hard working, versatile entertainer blessed with incredible talent she was. We have lost an irreplaceable personality who was loved by all, its only befitting to giver fans one more chance to hear her doing her thing.”
