Jules S This was much better than Oppenheimer which was a huge disappointment. Mark Felt was well cast and acted with a good pace and understated effective screen play. It is highly watchable and easy to follow. Ignore the low score on Rotten Tomatoes I can only assume that the audience is politically biased or ruined by spin and poor writing from a lot of trash that is sadly common in movie making these days. As someone living outside the US, I was pleased to see an accurate portrayal of this moment in history and that Mark Felt was a character with a strong sense of right and wrong. I appreciated discovering him through this well document movie. Well done to the producers and Liam Neeson who was bought a distinguished presence to the role and was flawlessly focused at portraying the character at hand. Not as good as Schindler's list but nearly considering any additions would have ruined the understated clear message of the biographic details and you can't really compare the two movies. We got a good glimpse into Mark Felt's character and his loyalty to the FBI and country. Unfortunately, the movie falls flat in the 2nd half of the movie. It didn't really delve enough into the 'deep throat' story. We never really see the build up to that and it seems to only scratch the surface. Then there was a whole subplot with the daughter that was completely unnecessary. And then we find out before the end credits that he was convicted of corruption which was completely opposite to what we were shown for most of the film. So I was left confused as to what to think about this character. Overall the acting was superb from an all-star cast. But the direction and story-telling was inconsistent. This could've been a great companion piece to "All the President's Men." Acting was on point. Direction was a miss.
