Kambole Campbell AV Club Even as it leaves any subtlety as a distant speck in its rear view mirror, Shankar’s spin on Devil May Cry is mostly a fun love letter to the qualities that made it popular as well as the sounds of the time when it emerged. Rated: B- Apr 4, 2025 Full Review Rendy Jones RogerEbert.com A gleefully violent, high-octane action adaptation with a punk edge. Apr 3, 2025 Full Review Samuel Leggett Jr. JVS Media & Productions/Team JVS As a fan of the Devil May Cry games, I'm thrilled with the new series. The action is intense, the music is metal, and it stays true to the source material. The characters are well-written, the humor is dark, and the story is beyond exciting. A Must Watch! Rated: 10/10 May 19, 2025 Full Review Rafael Motamayor IGN Movies Devil May Cry is a fun, if predictable, video game adaptation that boasts one of the best animated episodes of the year so far. Rated: 8/10 May 3, 2025 Full Review Lyra Hale Fangirlish Having zero knowledge of Devil May Cry, I had a great time with Netflix’s new anime of the video game franchise without feeling like I was missing out on key information. Rated: A+ Apr 11, 2025 Full Review Brett Cardaro CBR Devil May Cry has a lot of potential to be something great, as there are real strokes of genius in the action, humor, and themes present in the narrative that generally capture a lot of what makes the DMC game franchise interesting. Alejandro V As a fan of the games, this was a total disappointment. In the video games, Dante is virtually untouchable — no ally has ever been able to even scratch him. Here, he gets captured effortlessly and Lady injects him TWICE like it’s nothing. Where is the powerful, unstoppable Dante we know? But the worst part was the Devil Trigger: in the games, he unlocks it after an epic battle against Vergil, giving it his all and still losing. Here, he activates it with zero build-up, no emotional weight… and it changes nothing. They reduced him to a shadow of what he was. Totally nerfed. This isn’t a tribute — it’s an insult. I really mean this I hope they don’t get a second season, I just dont want to see what this guys do with Virgil. Rated 0.5 out of 5 stars 05/16/25 Full Review Mr. B The positive review bombing is almost as pathetic as the show itself. As a series in general, it's bad. As a DMC series... this is not DMC. There is so much lore already, use it. Rated 0.5 out of 5 stars 05/12/25 Full Review Jean M SO GOOD! Finally we have some great action TV again. Some bits are a little corny with references to religion... but everything else is 10/10. Hopefully this marks the end of all the gender swapping nonsense. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 05/10/25 Full Review Audience Member office assault - cool. rest of the show - not dmc. if you love games skip this. Rated 0.5 out of 5 stars 05/09/25 Full Review Gabriel T I’m not even surprised anymore, it’s always slop. Rated 0.5 out of 5 stars 05/09/25 Full Review Jacob W Thought the show was excellent—different from the games in some ways, but honestly for the better since the game’s story was never its strongest point. They absolutely nailed the music and action, which really made it shine. Awesome job overall, can’t wait for season 2! Rated 4.5 out of 5 stars 05/09/25 Full Review Read all reviews
