The closing took place at the shipping line’s headquarters in the presence of management representatives from CCNI and Agunsa. The acquisition had previously been approved by the competent antitrust authorities. The Sale and Purchase Agreement was signed by Hamburg Süd and CCNI on 14 February 2015, Hamburg Sud said. Hamburg Süd will continue to operate the CCNI container liner business under the well-established brand name on the main trade routes between the West coast of South America, Asia, Europe and North America respectively.
CCNI will discontinue their container liner services and will only be using the CCNI name for the Car Carrier activities which they will retain. Agunsa will continue representing other shipping lines as agent and will also further develop its port and logistics services business in South America.
