Syracuse, N.Y. -- The New York Mets announced a pair of trades on Sunday that could add some more talent to Triple-A Syracuse.

New York acquired infielder J.D. Davis and minor league infielder Cody Bohanek from the Houston Astros in exchange for minor league outfielder Ross Adolph, minor league infielder Luis Santana and minor league catcher Scott Manea.

Davis, 25, has five homers, six doubles, 12 RBI in 66 major league games with the Astros over the last two years. He made 14 starts at third base, eight starts at first base and three starts in left field for Houston last season. Davis won the Pacific Coast League batting title last year, hitting .342 (114-333) with Fresno.

Davis was the Astros third-round pick in the 2014 draft. He had 25 doubles, 17 homers and 81 RBI in 85 games for Fresno. The 6-3, 225-pounder has been a mid-season minor league All-Star in each of the last three years.

Bohanek, 23, has 17 doubles, 18 stolen bases, nine homers, 55 RBI and 85 runs scored in 177 career minor league games.

The Mets also picked RHP Walker Lockett and minor league infielder Sam Haggerty from the Cleveland Indians in exchange for catcher Kevin Plawecki.

Lockett, 24, made his major league debut in 2018 making four appearances (three starts) with San Diego and was a former fourth-round pick by the Padres in the 2012 draft. He led El Paso (AAA) of the Pacific Coast League in starts (23), innings (133.1) and strikeouts (118), going 5-9 with a 4.73 ERA last year. San Diego traded Lockett to Cleveland on Nov. 20 for RHP Ignacio Feliz.

The 6-5, 225-pound Lockett was the Padres 2016 Minor League Pitcher of the Year when he posted a 2.96 ERA (54 earned runs/164.0 innings) with 123 strikeouts and 24 walks in 28 outings (25 starts) across four levels of the Padres system.

He is 24-28 with a 4.15 ERA (222 earned runs/481.0 innings) in 101 career minor league games, 85 starts.

“We continue to focus on acquiring young major league ready talent for 2019 and beyond,” Mets General Manager Brodie Van Wagenen said in a statement. “Still only 24 years old, Walker provides us valuable depth to our starting rotation.”

Haggerty, 24-year-old middle infielder, collected 21 doubles, five triples, four homers, 37 RBI, 24 stolen bases and 44 runs scored in 87 games for Akron (AA) of the Eastern League in 2018.

Haggerty was a mid-season and post-season Carolina League All-Star in 2017 after batting .253 with 27 doubles, 13 triples, three homers, 49 stolen bases, 32 RBI and 72 runs scored in 112 games with Lynchburg.

He has 90 stolen bases, 67 doubles, 21 triples, 183 runs scored and 117 RBI in 322 career minor league games.

“Sam is athletic with good speed and a strong arm,” Van Wagenen said.
