Three people were wounded Tuesday night in a shooting in downtown Tampa, police said.
Officers responded about 11:15 p.m. to the intersection of Marion and Tyler streets for a report of shots fired and found a rifle and several spent shell casings, according to the Tampa Police Department.
Three shooting victims later arrived at a local hospital seeking treatment. Two men had been shot in the upper body and a woman was shot in the lower body, police said. Police have not released their names.
Police said in an update Wednesday afternoon that the shooting “was related to a narcotics transaction.”
“During that time the victims engaged in an altercation with unknown subjects” whom detectives were working to identify, a news release said.
Police said the shooting victims had traveled to Orlando in a Jeep stolen in that city. Investigators recovered two firearms inside the Jeep.
No arrests had been made as of Wednesday afternoon.
Police asked anyone with information on the shooting to call 813-231-6130 or share a tip via Tip411, which is accessible through the TampaPD app.
