     Lady Elizabeth Crichton was the daughter of William Crichton, 2nd Earl of Dumfries and Penelope Swift.2 She married Alexander Montgomerie, 8th Earl of Eglinton, son of Hugh Montgomerie, 7th Earl of Eglinton and Lady Mary Leslie, in January 1657/58 at London, EnglandG.3 She died on 5 December 1675.3
     From January 1658, her married name became Montgomerie. After her marriage, Lady Elizabeth Crichton was styled as Countess of Eglinton in 1669.

     William Crichton, 2nd Earl of Dumfries was born after 1605.2 He was the son of William Crichton, 1st Earl of Dumfries and Euphemia Seton.1 He married Penelope Swift, daughter of Sir Robert Swift and Ursula Barnham, on 29 August 1618.3 He died in 1691.1
     He succeeded as the 2nd Lord of Sanquhar [S., 1622] circa 1643.3 He succeeded as the 10th Lord Crichton of Sanquhar [S., 1488] circa 1643.1 He succeeded as the 2nd Viscount of Air [S., 1633] circa 1643.3 He succeeded as the 2nd Earl of Dumfries [S., 1633] circa 1643.3 He succeeded as the 2nd Viscount of Air [S., 1622] circa 1643.3 He succeeded as the 2nd Lord Crichton of Sanquhar and Cumnock [S., 1633] circa 1643.3 On 10 September 1690 he resigned his honours and got a regrant on 3 November 1690 with the old precedence but a new remainder to his grandson and heir apparent in tail male, failing whom, to the four daugthers of his dead son Charles and the heirs of their bodies respectively who inherited th family estates.3

     Alexander Montgomerie, 9th Earl of Eglinton was born circa 1660.2 He was the son of Alexander Montgomerie, 8th Earl of Eglinton and Lady Elizabeth Crichton.1 He married, secondly, Lady Ann Gordon, daughter of George Gordon of Haddo, 1st Earl of Aberdeen and Anne Lockhart.1 He married, firstly, Margaret Cochrane, daughter of William Cochrane, Lord Cochrane and Lady Catherine Kennedy, circa December 1676.2 He married, thirdly, Susanna Kennedy, daughter of Sir Archibald Kennedy of Culzean, 1st Bt. and Hon. Elizabeth Leslie, circa June 1709.1 He died on 18 February 1728/29 at Eglintoun Castle, Irvine, Ayrshire, ScotlandG.2
     He was appointed Privy Counsellor (P.C.)      Margaret Cochrane was the daughter of William Cochrane, Lord Cochrane and Lady Catherine Kennedy.1 She married Alexander Montgomerie, 9th Earl of Eglinton, son of Alexander Montgomerie, 8th Earl of Eglinton and Lady Elizabeth Crichton, circa December 1676.2
     From circa December 1676, her married name became Montgomerie. After her marriage, Margaret Cochrane was styled as Countess of Eglinton in 1701.

     Sir Archibald Kennedy of Culzean, 1st Bt. was the son of Sir John Kennedy and Hon. Margaret Hamilton. He married Hon. Elizabeth Leslie, daughter of David Leslie, 1st Lord Newark and Anna Jean Yorke.2 He died before 12 March 1711.2
     He was created 1st Baronet Kennedy, of Culzean, co. Ayr [Scotland] on 8 December 1682.1 He lived at Culzean, Ayrshire, ScotlandG.
