     Hugh Ross, 1st of Balnagowan was the son of Aodh de Ross, 4th Earl of Ross and Margaret Graham.² He married Margaret de Barclay.¹ He died before 10 August 1374.¹
     On 10 May 1333 he had charter of Rarichies.¹

     Hugh Ross, 3rd of Balnagowan is the son of William Ross, 2nd of Balnagowan and Catherine McTyre.² He married Janet (?), daughter of Robert Sutherland, 6th Earl of Sutherland and Helen Sinclair.¹

     John Ross, 5th of Balnagowan is the son of Hugh Ross, 3rd of Balnagowan and Janet (?)^2,1 He married Margaret MacLeod, daughter of Torquil MacLeod, 8th of the Lewes and Lady Catherine Campbell.³

     Alexander Ross, 6th of Balnagowan was the son of John Ross, 5th of Balnagowan and Margaret MacLeod.^2,3 He married Dorothy Sutherland, daughter of Alexander Sutherland of Duffus and Muriel Chisholm.¹ He died on 11 June 1486 at Allt Charrais, Scotland, killed in action with many of his clan with the Sutherlands and Mackays.¹

     Alexander Sutherland of Duffus married Muriel Chisholm.²
