National Socialism thoroughly perverts the Bavarian Ministry of Education. The seizure of power brings Hans Schemm (1a), a Franconian teacher, NSDAP deputy, NSLB chairman and then Gauleiter of the Bavarian Ostmark, to the top of the ministry, which he takes over on March 17, 1933. Adolf Wagner (1b) and Paul Giesler, his successors, are also Gauleiter and Minister of Culture. (English)
