James Plaisted Wilde, 1st and last Baron Penzance was born on 12 July 1816 at London, EnglandG.2 He was the son of Edward Archer Wilde and Marianne Norris.1 He married Lady Mary Pleydell-Bouverie, daughter of William Pleydell-Bouverie, 3rd Earl of Radnor and Judith Anne St. John-Mildmay, on 20 February 1860 at Coleshill, Berkshire, EnglandG.2 He died on 9 December 1899 at age 83 at Eashing Park, Godalming, Surrey, EnglandG, without issue.2
He was educated at Winchester College, Winchester, Hampshire, EnglandG.3 He was admitted to Inner Temple in 1839 entitled to practise as a Barrister-at-Law.3 He was Counsel to the Commissioner of Customs in 1840.3 He graduated from Trinity College, Cambridge University, Cambridge, Cambridgeshire, EnglandG, in 1842 with a Master of Arts (M.A.)3 He was appointed Queen's Counsel (Q.C.) in 1855.3 He held the office of Bencher of the Inner Temple in 1856.3 He was Counsel to the Duchy of Lancaster in 1859.3 He was appointed Knight Bachelor in 1860.3 He held the office of Baron of the Exchequer in 1860.3 He held the office of Judge of the High Court, Probate and Divorce Division between 1863 and 1872.3 He was created 1st Baron Penzance, of Penzance, co.
