This special provides some background to certain events (and a related short side-quest) that only receive cursory mention in the game. For those playing, the events take place shortly before the third palace. It's definitely not essential viewing, but neither does it do much to spoil the game - for those who have yet to play it, it provides a brief preview of what to look forward to, and for those who have played it, you get a short "Aha!" moment when you realize how it fits in. Anyone who fits in either category will likely find some enjoyment to be had.

For those with no interest in ever playing the game itself, I would steer clear, since its main draw comes from how it relates to the game, so you're likely to get vet little out of it.

The first couple of episodes left me with the impression that this was nothing but a boring 'monster-of-the-week' show doused in an overly large quantity of blood, but it actually built itself up into a pretty solid mind-fuck. Went into it with a highly skeptical mindset, but kudos to Clamp, never thought they would make something like this... Would love to see a remake of CCS in same style:)

An excellent fantasy anime, with some truly funny comedy elements and RPG-Game references, which manage to lighten the mood without ruining the epic feel of the story.
If you're a fan of RPG's, or fantasy in general, this show should not be missed.
IMPORTANT: The first episode, while hilarious, is completely different from, and in no way an indicator of, the style of the rest of the show.
