Measurements of the $CP$-even fractions of $D^0\toπぱい^{+}πぱい^{-}πぱい^{0}$ and $D^0\to K^{+}K^{-}πぱい^{0}$ at BESIII

Abstract: The $CP$-even fractions ($F_{+}$) of the decays $D^0\toπぱい^{+}πぱい^{-}πぱい^{0}$ and $D^0\to K^{+}K^{-}πぱい^{0}$ are measured with a quantum-correlated $ψぷさい(3770)\to D\bar{D}$ data sample collected by the BESIII experiment corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 7.93 $\mathrm{fb}^{-1}$. The results are $F_{+}^{πぱい^{+}πぱい^{-}πぱい^{0}}=0.9406\pm0.0036\pm0.0021$ and $F_{+}^{K^{+}K^{-}πぱい^{0}}=0.631\pm0.014\pm0.011$, w… ▽ More The $CP$-even fractions ($F_{+}$) of the decays $D^0\toπぱい^{+}πぱい^{-}πぱい^{0}$ and $D^0\to K^{+}K^{-}πぱい^{0}$ are measured with a quantum-correlated $ψぷさい(3770)\to D\bar{D}$ data sample collected by the BESIII experiment corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 7.93 $\mathrm{fb}^{-1}$. These measurements are consistent with the previous determinations, and the uncertainties for $F_{+}^{πぱい^{+}πぱい^{-}πぱい^{0}}$ and $F_{+}^{K^{+}K^{-}πぱい^{0}}$ are reduced by factors of 3.9 and 2.6, respectively. Advancing Hybrid Defense for Byzantine Attacks in Federated Learning

Abstract: Federated learning (FL) enables multiple clients to collaboratively train a global model without sharing their local data. Recent studies have highlighted the vulnerability of FL to Byzantine attacks, where malicious clients send poisoned updates to degrade model performance. Notably, many attacks have been developed targeting specific aggregation rules, whereas various defense mechanisms have bee… ▽ More Federated learning (FL) enables multiple clients to collaboratively train a global model without sharing their local data. Recent studies have highlighted the vulnerability of FL to Byzantine attacks, where malicious clients send poisoned updates to degrade model performance. Notably, many attacks have been developed targeting specific aggregation rules, whereas various defense mechanisms have been designed for dedicated threat models. This paper studies the resilience of an attack-agnostic FL scenario, where the server lacks prior knowledge of both the attackers' strategies and the number of malicious clients involved. We first introduce a hybrid defense against state-of-the-art attacks. Our goal is to identify a general-purpose aggregation rule that performs well on average while also avoiding worst-case vulnerabilities. By adaptively selecting from available defenses, we demonstrate that the server remains robust even when confronted with a substantial proportion of poisoned updates. To better understand this resilience, we then assess the attackers' capability using a proxy called client heterogeneity. We also emphasize that the existing FL defenses should not be regarded as secure, as demonstrated through the newly proposed Trapsetter attack. The proposed attack outperforms other state-of-the-art attacks by further reducing the model test accuracy by 8-10%. Using $7.9~\rm{fb^{-1}}$ of $e^+e^-$ collision data collected at $\sqrt{s}=3.773$ GeV with the BESIII detector at the BEPCII collider, we measure the effective flavor-changing neutral current coupling of $cuγがんま'$ in $D^0\toωおめがγがんま'$ and $D^0\toγがんまγがんま'$ processes to search for the massless dark photon. No significant signals are observed, and the upper limits at the 90% confidence level on the massless dark photon branching fraction are set to be $1.1\times10^{-5}$ and $2.0\times10^{-6}$ for $D^0\toωおめがγがんま'$ and $D^0\toγがんまγがんま'$, respectively. These results provide the most stringent constraint on the new physics energy scale associated with $cuγがんま'$ coupling in the world, with the new physics energy scale related parameter $|\mathbb{C}|^2+|\mathbb{C}_5|^2<8.2\times10^{-17}~\rm{GeV}^{-2}$ at the 90% confidence level, playing a unique role in the dark sector search with the charm sector. △ Less

Diffusion Policy Policy Optimization

Abstract: We introduce Diffusion Policy Policy Optimization, DPPO, an algorithmic framework including best practices for fine-tuning diffusion-based policies (e.g. Diffusion Policy) in continuous control and robot learning tasks using the policy gradient (PG) method from reinforcement learning (RL). PG methods are ubiquitous in training RL policies with other policy parameterizations; nevertheless, they had… ▽ More We introduce Diffusion Policy Policy Optimization, DPPO, an algorithmic framework including best practices for fine-tuning diffusion-based policies (e.g. Diffusion Policy) in continuous control and robot learning tasks using the policy gradient (PG) method from reinforcement learning (RL). PG methods are ubiquitous in training RL policies with other policy parameterizations; nevertheless, they had been conjectured to be less efficient for diffusion-based policies. Surprisingly, we show that DPPO achieves the strongest overall performance and efficiency for fine-tuning in common benchmarks compared to other RL methods for diffusion-based policies and also compared to PG fine-tuning of other policy parameterizations. Through experimental investigation, we find that DPPO takes advantage of unique synergies between RL fine-tuning and the diffusion parameterization, leading to structured and on-manifold exploration, stable training, and strong policy robustness. We further demonstrate the strengths of DPPO in a range of realistic settings, including simulated robotic tasks with pixel observations, and via zero-shot deployment of simulation-trained policies on robot hardware in a long-horizon, multi-stage manipulation task. Uncertainties on hadronic models, ion-nucleon cross sections in particular, are currently the limiting factor towards obtaining more accurate CR ion flux measurements with calorimetric space-based exp… ▽ More Precise direct cosmic-ray (CR) measurements provide an important probe to study the energetic particle sources in our Galaxy, and the interstellar environment through which these particles propagate. Uncertainties on hadronic models, ion-nucleon cross sections in particular, are currently the limiting factor towards obtaining more accurate CR ion flux measurements with calorimetric space-based experiments. We present an energy-dependent measurement of the inelastic cross section of protons and helium-4 nuclei (alpha particles) on a Bi$_4$Ge$_3$O$_{12}$ target, using 88 months of data collected by the DAMPE space mission. The kinetic energy range per nucleon of the measurement points ranges from 18 GeV to 9 TeV for protons, and from 5 GeV/n to 3 TeV/n for helium-4 nuclei. Our results lead to a significant improvement of the CR flux normalisation. In the case of helium-4, these results correspond to the first cross section measurements on a heavy target material at energies above 10 GeV/n. △ Less

Automatic detection of Mild Cognitive Impairment using high-dimensional acoustic features in spontaneous speech

We conducted three experiments comparing five machine-learning methods: Random Forests, Sparse Logistic Regression, k-Nearest Neighbors, Sparse Support Vector Machine, and Decision Tree, utilizing 1076 acoustic features automatically ext… ▽ More This study addresses the TAUKADIAL challenge, focusing on the classification of speech from people with Mild Cognitive Impairment (MCI) and neurotypical controls. We conducted three experiments comparing five machine-learning methods: Random Forests, Sparse Logistic Regression, k-Nearest Neighbors, Sparse Support Vector Machine, and Decision Tree, utilizing 1076 acoustic features automatically extracted using openSMILE. In Experiment 1, the entire dataset was used to train a language-agnostic model. Experiment 2 introduced a language detection step, leading to separate model training for each language. Experiment 3 further enhanced the language-agnostic model from Experiment 1, with a specific focus on evaluating the robustness of the models using out-of-sample test data. Across all three experiments, results consistently favored models capable of handling high-dimensional data, such as Random Forest and Sparse Logistic Regression, in classifying speech from MCI and controls. △ Less

The expected uncertainty on $γがんま$ arising from the precision of the strong-phase measurements, when applied to very large samples of $B$-meson decays, is around $1.5^\circ$ or $2^\circ$, depending on the binning scheme. The binned strong-phase parameters are combined to give a value of $F_+^{4πぱい} = 0.746 \pm 0.010 \pm 0.004$ for the $C\!P$-even fraction of $D^0 \to πぱい^+πぱい^-πぱい^+πぱい^-$ decays, which is around 30\% more precise than the previous best measurement of this quantity. △ Less

Abstract: Using $(10087\pm44)\times10^6J/ψぷさい$ events collected with the BESIII detector, we search for the rare decay $J/ψぷさい\to γがんまD^0+c.c.$ for the first time. No obvious signal is observed and the upper limit on the branching fraction is determined to be ${\cal B}(J/ψぷさい\to γがんまD^{0}+c.c.)< 9.1 \times 10^{-8}$ at 90\% confidence level. Meta-creatures: Developing an omnipotent hydrogel cell to construct bio-inspired systems

Here, to create a parallel entity t… ▽ More Due to current technological challenges, including the complexity of precise control, low long-term survival and success rates, difficulty in maintaining function over extended periods, and high energy consumption, the construction of life-like creatures with multilevel structures and varied physiological characteristics is a goal that has yet to be achieved1-3. Here, to create a parallel entity termed a meta-creature with similar functions and characteristics to those of natural organisms, we introduce a process for the transformation of an omnipotent hydrogel cell (OHC), which is inspired by totipotent stem cells and carries bio-inspired bioelectricity, into a meta-creature. We captured the electrical signals transmitted between the meta-nerve fibres and rat sciatic nerves, the physicochemical signals perceived by the meta-mouth, and the information exchanged between the meta-skin and the external environment. Notably, the meta-cardiovascular system, which is capable of exchanging matter and energy with external environments, exhibited similar electrocardiogram signals during testing in rabbits; these results indicated feedback with a biological system and the potential for ex vivo bioelectric remodelling. Finally, a meta-creature was designed and exhibited bio-inspired bioelectricity signals during the simulated outdoor flight. Efficient Federated Learning Using Dynamic Update and Adaptive Pruning with Momentum on Shared Server Data

In this paper, we propose a new FL framework, i.e., FedDUMAP, with three original contributions, to leverage the shared insensitive data on the server in addition to the distributed data in edge devices so as to efficiently train a global model. First, we propose a simple dynamic server update algorithm, which takes advantage of the shared insensitive data on the server while dynamically adjusting the update steps on the server in order to speed up the convergence and improve the accuracy. Second, we propose an adaptive optimization method with the dynamic server update algorithm to exploit the global momentum on the server and each local device for superior accuracy. Third, we develop a layer-adaptive model pruning method to carry out specific pruning operations, which is adapted to the diverse features of each layer so as to attain an excellent trade-off between effectiveness and efficiency. Our proposed FL model, FedDUMAP, combines the three original techniques and has a significantly better performance compared with baseline approaches in terms of efficiency (up to 16.9 times faster), accuracy (up to 20.4% higher), and computational cost (up to 62.6% smaller). △ Less

Here, ${\cal B}$ is the branching fraction of $ψぷさい(2S)\rightarrowγがんまπぱい^{0}$ and $φふぁい$ is the relative phase angle between the $ψぷさい(2S)$ and continuum amplitudes. Due to insufficient off-resonance data, the branching fraction ${\cal B}(ψぷさい(2S)\rightarrowγがんまπぱい^{0})$ is determined to be in the range $[2.7, 9.7]\times10^{-7}$ within one standard deviation of the contour region. △ Less

Using a recent BESIII measurement of $\mathcal{B} (ηいーた_{c}(2S) \to K^{+} K^{-}πぱい^{0})$, we also determine the ratio between the branching fractions of $ηいーた_{c}(2S) \to K^{+} K^{-}ηいーた$ and $ηいーた_{c}(2S) \to K^{+} K^{-}πぱい^{0}$ to be $1.49 \pm 0.22 \pm 0.25$, which is consistent with the previous result of BaBar at a comparable precision level. △ Less

Moire exciton polaritons in twisted photonic lattices at room temperature

Abstract: Moire lattices attract intensive attention in the double graphene/TMD layers and photonic crystals due to the interesting exotic physics within these structures. However, precise measurement of the moir'e ground states, excited states and Bloch bands in the twisted photonic lattices is still illusive. In this work we report the strong coupling between the excitons of CsPbBr3 microplates and the ph… ▽ More Moire lattices attract intensive attention in the double graphene/TMD layers and photonic crystals due to the interesting exotic physics within these structures. Depending on the coupling strength between the nearest potential sites, we observe staggered moire polariton ground states, excited states trapped in the potential sites and moire polariton bands across the twisted photonic lattice. In addition, the phase locking of moire zero (stable in-phase) states and moire pi (metastable antiphase) states with different spatial distributions are measured. Moir'e polariton distribution can be tuned in the shape of parallelogram by controlling the depth and width of the potential in one photonic lattice with another one fixed. Our work lays the foundation to study moir'e exciton polariton Wigner crystals and Luttinger liquid in twisted photonic lattices at room temperature. △ Less

To address these challenges, we introduce FT K-means, a high-performance GPU-accelerated implementation of K-means with online fault tolerance. We first present a stepwise optimization strategy that achieves competitive performance compared to NVIDIA's cuML library. We further improve FT K-means with a template-based code generation framework that supports different data types and adapts to different input shapes. A novel warp-level tensor-core error correction scheme is proposed to address the failure of existing fault tolerance methods due to memory asynchronization during copy operations. Our experimental evaluations on NVIDIA T4 GPU and A100 GPU demonstrate that FT K-means without fault tolerance outperforms cuML's K-means implementation, showing a performance increase of 10\%-300\% in scenarios involving irregular data shapes. Moreover, the fault tolerance feature of FT K-means introduces only an overhead of 11\%, maintaining robust performance even with tens of errors injected per second. △ Less

Abstract: Based on a sample of $(2712.4\pm14.3)\times10^6\;ψぷさい(3686)$ events collected with the BESIII detector, a partial wave analysis of the decay $ψぷさい(3686)\toΛらむだ\barΣしぐま^0πぱい^0+c.c.$ is performed to investigate $Λらむだ^*$ and $Σしぐま^*$ resonances in the $πぱい^0\barΣしぐま^0$ and $πぱい^0Λらむだ$ invariant mass distributions. The decay $D^0\to b_1(1235)^-e^{+}νにゅー_{e}$ is observed with a significance of 5.2$σしぐま$ after considering systematic uncertainty, while evidence for the decay $D^+\to b_1(1235)^0 e^+νにゅー_e$ is obtained with a 3.1$σしぐま$ significance. The product branching fractions are determined to be ${\mathcal B}(D^0\to b_{1}(1235)^-e^{+}νにゅー_{e})\times {\mathcal B} (b_1(1235)^-\to ωおめがπぱい^-) = (0.72\pm0.18^{+0.06}_{-0.08})\times10^{-4}$ and ${\mathcal B}(D^+\to b_{1}(1235)^0e^{+}νにゅー_{e})\times {\mathcal B} (b_1(1235)^0~\to ωおめがπぱい^0) = (1.16\pm0.44\pm0.16)\times10^{-4}$, where the first uncertainties are statistical and the second systematic. The ratio of their partial decay widths is determined to be $\frac{Γがんま(D^0\to b_{1}(1235)^-e^{+}νにゅー_{e})}{2Γがんま(D^+\to b_{1}(1235)^0e^{+}νにゅー_{e})}=0.78\pm0.19^{+0.04}_{-0.05}$, which is consistent with unity, predicted by isospin invariance, within uncertainties. △ Less

Abstract: Using $(2.712\pm0.014)\times10^{9}$ $ψぷさい(3686)$ events collected with the BESIII detector operating at the BEPCII, we find an evidence of the $ηいーた_{c}(2S)\to K^+ K^- ηいーた^{\prime}$ decay with a statistical significance of 3.1$σしぐま$. Its decay branching fraction is measured to be $(12.24\pm4.60(\mathrm{stat.})\pm2.37(\mathrm{syst.})\pm4.68(\mathrm{extr.}))\times 10^{-4}$, where the first uncertainty is stati… ▽ More Using $(2.712\pm0.014)\times10^{9}$ $ψぷさい(3686)$ events collected with the BESIII detector operating at the BEPCII, we find an evidence of the $ηいーた_{c}(2S)\to K^+ K^- ηいーた^{\prime}$ decay with a statistical significance of 3.1$σしぐま$. Region-based Content Enhancement for Efficient Video Analytics at the Edge

Recent advances of content enhancement in video analytics offer significant benefits for the bandwidth saving and accuracy improvement. However, existing content-enhanced video analytics systems are excessively computationally expensive and provide extremely low throughput. Recent advances of content enhancement in video analytics offer significant benefits for the bandwidth saving and accuracy improvement. However, existing content-enhanced video analytics systems are excessively computationally expensive and provide extremely low throughput. In this paper, we present region-based content enhancement, that enhances only the important regions in videos, to improve analytical accuracy. Our system, RegenHance, enables high-accuracy and high-throughput video analytics at the edge by 1) a macroblock-based region importance predictor that identifies the important regions fast and precisely, 2) a region-aware enhancer that stitches sparsely distributed regions into dense tensors and enhances them efficiently, and 3) a profile-based execution planer that allocates appropriate resources for enhancement and analytics components. We prototype RegenHance on five heterogeneous edge devices. Experiments on two analytical tasks reveal that region-based enhancement improves the overall accuracy of 10-19% and achieves 2-3x throughput compared to the state-of-the-art frame-based enhancement methods. △ Less

Here the third (external) systematic is from $\mathcal{B}(Λらむだ_{c}^{+} \to Λらむだπぱい^+ ηいーた)$. The product of the decay constant and Cabibbo-Kobayashi-Maskawa matrix element $|V_{cs}|$ is determined to be $f_{D_s^+}|V_{cs}|=(246.5\pm5.9_{\rm stat}\pm3.6_{\rm syst}\pm0.5_{\rm input})_{μみゅーνにゅー}~\mathrm{MeV}$ and $f_{D_s^+}|V_{cs}|=(252.7\pm3.6_{\rm stat}\pm4.5_{\rm syst}\pm0.6_{\rm input}))_{τたうνにゅー}~\mathrm{MeV}$, respectively. Taking the value of $|V_{cs}|$ from a global fit in the Standard Model, we obtain ${f_{D^+_s}}=(252.8\pm6.0_{\rm stat}\pm3.7_{\rm syst}\pm0.6_{\rm input})_{μみゅーνにゅー}$ MeV and ${f_{D^+_s}}=(259.2\pm3.6_{\rm stat}\pm4.5_{\rm syst}\pm0.6_{\rm input})_{τたうνにゅー}$ MeV, respectively. Conversely, taking the value for $f_{D_s^+}$ from the latest lattice quantum chromodynamics calculation, we obtain $|V_{cs}| =(0.986\pm0.023_{\rm stat}\pm0.014_{\rm syst}\pm0.003_{\rm input})_{μみゅーνにゅー}$ and $|V_{cs}| = (1.011\pm0.014_{\rm stat}\pm0.018_{\rm syst}\pm0.003_{\rm input})_{τたうνにゅー}$, respectively. △ Less

UQE: A Query Engine for Unstructured Databases

We investigate the potential of Large Language Models (LLMs) to enable unstructured data analytics. This engine accepts queries in a Universal Query Language (UQL), a dialect of SQL that provides full natural language flexibility in specifying conditions and operators. The new engine leverages the ability of LLMs to conduct analysis of unstructured data, while also allowing us to exploit advances in sampling and optimization techniques to achieve efficient and accurate query execution. In addition, we borrow techniques from classical compiler theory to better orchestrate the workflow between sampling methods and foundation model calls. We demonstrate the efficiency of UQE on data analytics across different modalities, including images, dialogs and reviews, across a range of useful query types, including conditional aggregation, semantic retrieval and abstraction aggregation. △ Less

Abstract: The $e^+e^-\rightarrow D_s^+D_{s1}(2536)^-$ and $e^+e^-\rightarrow D_s^+D^*_{s2}(2573)^-$ processes are studied using data samples collected with the BESIII detector at center-of-mass energies from 4.530 to 4.946~GeV. The absolute branching fractions of $D_{s1}(2536)^- \rightarrow \bar{D}^{*0}K^-$ and $D_{s2}^*(2573)^- \rightarrow \bar{D}^0K^-$ are measured for the first time to be… ▽ More The $e^+e^-\rightarrow D_s^+D_{s1}(2536)^-$ and $e^+e^-\rightarrow D_s^+D^*_{s2}(2573)^-$ processes are studied using data samples collected with the BESIII detector at center-of-mass energies from 4.530 to 4.946~GeV. The absolute branching fractions of $D_{s1}(2536)^- \rightarrow \bar{D}^{*0}K^-$ and $D_{s2}^*(2573)^- \rightarrow \bar{D}^0K^-$ are measured for the first time to be $(35.9\pm 4.8\pm 3.5)\%$ and $(37.4\pm 3.1\pm 4.6)\%$, respectively. The measurements are in tension with predictions based on the assumption that the $D_{s1}(2536)$ and $D_{s2}^*(2573)$ are dominated by a bare $c\bar{s}$ component. The $e^+e^-\rightarrow D_s^+D_{s1}(2536)^-$ and $e^+e^-\rightarrow D_s^+D^*_{s2}(2573)^-$ cross sections are measured, and a resonant structure at around 4.6~GeV with a width of 50~MeV is observed for the first time with a statistical significance of $15σしぐま$ in the $e^+e^-\rightarrow D_s^+D^*_{s2}(2573)^-$ process. It could be the $Y(4626)$ found by the Belle collaboration in the $D_s^+D_{s1}(2536)^{-}$ final state, since they have similar masses and widths. The branching fractions of the two decays $J/ψぷさい\to p \bar{p} ηいーた(ηいーた\to γがんまγがんま)$ and $J/ψぷさい\to p \bar{p} ηいーた(ηいーた\to πぱい^+ πぱい^- πぱい^0)$ are measured individually to be $\mathcal{B}(J/ψぷさい\to p \bar{p} ηいーた(ηいーた\to γがんまγがんま)) = (1.480 \pm 0.001 \pm 0.024)\times\,10^{-3}$ and $\mathcal{B}(J/ψぷさい\to p \bar{p} ηいーた(ηいーた\to πぱい^+ πぱい^- πぱい^0)) = (1.557 \pm 0.003 \pm 0.038)\times\,10^{-3}$, where the first uncertainties are statistical and the second systematic. Both results are compatible within their uncorrelated systematic uncertainties. The combined result is $\mathcal{B}(J/ψぷさい\to p \bar{p} ηいーた)=(1.495 \pm 0.001 \pm 0.023)\times\,10^{-3}$ where the first uncertainty is the combined statistical uncertainty and the second one the combined systematic uncertainty of both analyses, incorporating correlations between them. In addition, the $p \bar{p}$ threshold region is investigated for a potential threshold enhancement, and no evidence for one is observed. △ Less

Abstract: Analyzing $e^+e^-$ collision data corresponding to an integrated luminosity of $7.33~\mathrm{fb}^{-1}$ collected at center-of-mass energies between 4.128 and 4.226~GeV with the BESIII detector, we measure the branching fraction of the semileptonic decay $D^+_{s}\to K^0 e^+νにゅー_e$ to be $(2.98\pm0.23\pm0.12)\times10^{-3}$. However, previous approaches typically verify and synthesize the CBFs and CLFs separately, satisfying their respective constraints, without proving that the CBFs and CLFs are compatible with each oth… ▽ More Safety and stability are essential properties of control systems. However, previous approaches typically verify and synthesize the CBFs and CLFs separately, satisfying their respective constraints, without proving that the CBFs and CLFs are compatible with each other, namely at every state, there exists control actions that satisfy both the CBF and CLF constraints simultaneously. There exists some recent works that synthesized compatible CLF and CBF, but relying on nominal polynomial or rational controllers, which is just a sufficient but not necessary condition for compatibility. In this work, we investigate verification and synthesis of compatible CBF and CLF independent from any nominal controllers. We derive exact necessary and sufficient conditions for compatibility, and further formulate Sum-Of-Squares program for the compatibility verification. Based on our verification framework, we also design an alternating nominal-controller-free synthesis method. We evaluate our method in a linear toy, a non-linear toy, and a power converter example. △ Less

Sparse-view Signal-domain Photoacoustic Tomography Reconstruction Method Based on Neural Representation

However, for the conventional image reconstruction method, the image quality is affected obviously by artifacts under the condition of sparse sampling. in this paper, a novel model-based sparse reconstruction method via implicit neural representation was proposed for improving… ▽ More Photoacoustic tomography is a hybrid biomedical technology, which combines the advantages of acoustic and optical imaging. However, for the conventional image reconstruction method, the image quality is affected obviously by artifacts under the condition of sparse sampling. in this paper, a novel model-based sparse reconstruction method via implicit neural representation was proposed for improving the image quality reconstructed from sparse data. Specially, the initial acoustic pressure distribution was modeled as a continuous function of spatial coordinates, and parameterized by a multi-layer perceptron. The weights of multi-layer perceptron were determined by training the network in self-supervised manner. And the total variation regularization term was used to offer the prior knowledge. We compared our result with some ablation studies, and the results show that out method outperforms existing methods on simulation and experimental data. Under the sparse sampling condition, our method can suppress the artifacts and avoid the ill-posed problem effectively, which reconstruct images with higher signal-to-noise ratio and contrast-to-noise ratio than traditional methods. The high-quality results for sparse data make the proposed method hold the potential for further decreasing the hardware cost of photoacoustic tomography system. △ Less

Abstract: In this work we try to search for signals generated by ultra-heavy dark matter at the Large High Altitude Air Shower Observatory (LHAASO) data. We look for possible gamma-ray by dark matter annihilation or decay from 16 dwarf spheroidal galaxies in the field of view of LHAASO. Abstract: Based on $2.7 \times 10^9~ψぷさい(3686)$ decays collected with the BESIII detector, the radiative decay $ψぷさい(3686)\to\gamma2(πぱい^{+}πぱい^{-})ηいーた$ is investigated to measure properties of S- and P-wave charmonium states. The mass and width of the $ηいーた_{c}(1S)$ are measured to be $M=(2984.14 \pm 0.13 \pm 0.38)$ MeV/$c^{2}$ and $Γがんま=(28.82 \pm 0.11 \pm 0.82)$ MeV, respectively. Clear signals for the decays of the $χかい_{cJ}(J=0,1,2)$ and the $ηいーた_{c}(2S)$ to $2(πぱい^{+}πぱい^{-})ηいーた$ are also observed for the first time, and the corresponding branching fractions are measured. The ratio of the branching fractions between the $ηいーた_{c}(2S)$ and $ηいーた_{c}(1S)$ decays is significantly lower than the theoretical prediction, which might suggest different dynamics in their decays. △ Less

The branching fractions of these decays are measured to be $\mathcal{B}(h_c \to πぱい^+ πぱい^- πぱい^0)=(1.36\pm0.16\pm0.14)\times10^{-3}$, $\mathcal{B}(h_c \to K^+ K^- πぱい^0)=(3.26\pm0.84\pm0.36)\times10^{-4}$, and $\mathcal{B}(h_c \to K^+ K^- ηいーた)=(3.13\pm1.08\pm0.38)\times10^{-4}$, where the first uncertainties are statistical and the second are systematic. No significant signal of $h_c\toπぱい^+πぱい^-ηいーた$ is found, and the upper limit of its decay branching fraction is determined to be $\mathcal{B}(h_c\toπぱい^+πぱい^-ηいーた) < 4.0 \times 10^{-4}$ at 90% confidence level. △ Less

Robust Interaction-based Relevance Modeling for Online E-Commerce and LLM-based Retrieval

Traditional text-matching techniques are prevalent but often fail to capture the nuances of search intent accurately, so neural networks now have become a prefe… ▽ More Semantic relevance calculation is crucial for e-commerce search engines, as it ensures that the items selected closely align with customer intent. Inadequate attention to this aspect can detrimentally affect user experience and engagement. Traditional text-matching techniques are prevalent but often fail to capture the nuances of search intent accurately, so neural networks now have become a preferred solution to processing such complex text matching. Existing methods predominantly employ representation-based architectures, which strike a balance between high traffic capacity and low latency. However, they exhibit significant shortcomings in generalization and robustness when compared to interaction-based architectures. In this work, we introduce a robust interaction-based modeling paradigm to address these shortcomings. It encompasses 1) a dynamic length representation scheme for expedited inference, 2) a professional terms recognition method to identify subjects and core attributes from complex sentence structures, and 3) a contrastive adversarial training protocol to bolster the model's robustness and matching capabilities. Extensive offline evaluations demonstrate the superior robustness and effectiveness of our approach, and online A/B testing confirms its ability to improve relevance in the same exposure position, resulting in more clicks and conversions. To the best of our knowledge, this method is the first interaction-based approach for large e-commerce search relevance calculation. Notably, we have deployed it for the entire search traffic on alibaba.com, the largest B2B e-commerce platform in the world. △ Less

Preference Optimization for Molecule Synthesis with Conditional Residual Energy-based Models

Current data-driven strategies employ one-step retrosynthesis models and search algorithms to predict synthetic routes in a top-bottom manner. Despite their effective performance, these strategies face limitations in the molecule synthetic route generation due to a greedy selection of the next molecul… ▽ More Molecule synthesis through machine learning is one of the fundamental problems in drug discovery. Current data-driven strategies employ one-step retrosynthesis models and search algorithms to predict synthetic routes in a top-bottom manner. Despite their effective performance, these strategies face limitations in the molecule synthetic route generation due to a greedy selection of the next molecule set without any lookahead. Furthermore, existing strategies cannot control the generation of synthetic routes based on possible criteria such as material costs, yields, and step count. In this work, we propose a general and principled framework via conditional residual energy-based models (EBMs), that focus on the quality of the entire synthetic route based on the specific criteria. By incorporating an additional energy-based function into our probabilistic model, our proposed algorithm can enhance the quality of the most probable synthetic routes (with higher probabilities) generated by various strategies in a plug-and-play fashion. Extensive experiments demonstrate that our framework can consistently boost performance across various strategies and outperforms previous state-of-the-art top-1 accuracy by a margin of 2.5%.
