Microinstabilities at perpendicular collisionless shocks: A comparison of full particle simulations with different ion to electron mass ratio
Abstract: A full particle simulation study is carried out for studying microinstabilities generated at the shock front of perpendicular collisionless shocks. The structure and dynamics of shock waves are determined by Alfven Mach number and plasma beta, while microinstabilities are controlled by the ratio of the upstream bulk velocity to the electron thermal velocity and the plasma-to-cyclotron frequency. Numerical study of QCD phase diagram at high temperature and density by a histogram method
Abstract: We study the QCD phase structure at high temperature and density adopting a histogram method. Because the quark determinant is complex at finite density, the Monte-Carlo method cannot be applied directly. We use a reweighting method and try to solve the problems which arise in the reweighting method, i.e. the sign problem and the overlap problem. We discuss the chemical potential dependence of the… ▽ More

The QCD Equation of State with almost Physical Quark Masses
Abstract: We present results on the equation of state in QCD with two light quark flavors and a heavier strange quark. Calculations with improved staggered fermions have been performed on lattices with temporal extent Nt =4 and 6 on a line of constant physics with almost physical quark mass values; the pion mass is about 220 MeV, and the strange quark mass is adjusted to its physical value. High statistic… ▽ More

Study of constant mode in charmonium correlators at finite temperature
Abstract: Recent studies on the spectral function of charmonium in lattice QCD suggest survival of $J/
ψ $ state in the deconfinement phase till relatively high temperature. Based on the studies, different scenarios of $J/ψ $ suppression are discussed to understand experimental results in the Heavy Ion Collision experiments. The scenarios require the information on the dissociation temperatures of $χ _c$ and… ▽ MoreSubmitted 1 October, 2007; originally announced October 2007.

The asymptotic limits of zero modes of massless Dirac operators
Abstract: Asymptotic behaviors of zero modes of the massless Dirac operator $H=
α \cdot D + Q(x)$ are discussed, where $α = (α _1,α _2,α _3)$ is the triple of $4 \times 4$ Dirac matrices, $ D=\frac{1}{i} \nabla_x$, and $Q(x)=\big(q_{jk} (x) \big)$ is a $4\times 4$ Hermitian matrix-valued function with $| q_{jk}(x) | \le C < x >^{-ρ } $, $ρ >1$. Constant contribution in meson correlators at finite temperature
Abstract: We discuss a constant contribution to meson correlators at finite temperature. In the deconfinement phase of QCD, a colored single quark state is allowed as a finite energy state, which yields to a contribution of wraparound quark propagation to temporal meson correlators. We investigate the effects in the free quark case and quenched QCD at finite temperature. The ``scattering'' contribution ca… ▽ More

Study of the finite temperature transition in 3-flavor QCD using the R and RHMC algorithms
Abstract: We study the finite temperature transition in QCD with three flavors of equal masses using the R and RHMC algorithm on lattices with temporal extent N_
τ =4 and 6. For the transition temperature in the continuum limit we find r_0 T_c=0.429(8) for the light pseudo-scalar mass corresponding to the end point of the 1st order transition region. When comparing the results obtained with the R and RHMC a… ▽ MoreSubmitted 1 December, 2006; originally announced December 2006.

Quarkonium at finite temperature
Abstract: Lattice QCD studies on charmonium at finite temperature are presented After a discussion about problems for the Maximum Entropy Method applied to finite temperature lattice QCD, I show several results on charmonium spectral functions. The ``wave function'' of charmonium is also discussed to study the spatial correlation between quark and anti-quark in deconfinement phase.

QCD thermodynamics with $N_f=2+1$ near the continuum limit at realistic quark masses
Abstract: We report on our study of QCD thermodynamics with 2+1 flavors of dynamical quarks. In this proceeding we present several thermodynamic quantities and our recent calculation of the critical temperature. In order to investigate the thermodynamic properties of QCD near the continuum limit we adopt improved staggered (p4) quarks coupled with tree-level Symanzik improved glue on $N_t=4$ and 6 lattice… ▽ More

The transition temperature in QCD
Abstract: We present a detailed calculation of the transition temperature in QCD with two light and one heavier (strange) quark mass on lattices with temporal extent N_t =4 and 6. Full particle simulation of a perpendicular collisionless shock: A shock-rest-frame model
Abstract: The full kinetic dynamics of a perpendicular collisionless shock is studied by means of a one-dimensional electromagnetic full particle simulation. The present simulation domain is taken in the shock rest frame in contrast to the previous full particle simulations of shocks. Preliminary results show that the downstream state falls into a unique cyclic reformation state for a given set of upstrea… ▽ More

Study of 1/m corrections in HQET
Abstract: We report our exploratory study on the matching condition of HQET with QCD including 1/m corrections. We introduce a new observable from the dependence of the heavy-light effective energy on the twisted boundary condition parameter $
