Abstract: We report a study of the hadronic transitions $χかい_{bJ}(2P)\toωおめがΥうぷしろん(1S)$, with $ωおめが\toπぱい^{+}πぱい^{-}πぱい^{0}$, using $28.2\times10^6~Υうぷしろん(3S)$ mesons recorded by the Belle detector. We also obtain branching fractions of $B\big(χかい_{b1}(2P)\toωおめがΥうぷしろん(1S)\big) = \big(2.39{}^{+0.20}_{-0.19}\pm0.24\big)\%$ and $B\big(χかい_{b2}(2P)\toωおめがΥうぷしろん(1S)\big) = \big(0.47{}^{+0.13}_{-0.12}\pm0.06\big)\%$, confirming the measurement of the $ωおめが$ transitions of the $J=1,2~P$--wave states. The ratio for the $J=2$ to $J=1$ transitions is also measured and found to differ by 3.3 standard deviations from the expected value in the QCD multipole expansion. △ Less

Search for the decay $B^{0}\toγがんまγがんま$ using Belle and Belle II data

Abstract: We report the result of a search for the rare decay $B^{0} \to γがんまγがんま$ using a combined dataset of $753\times10^{6}$ $B\bar{B}$ pairs collected by the Belle experiment and $387\times10^{6}$ $B\bar{B}$ pairs collected by the Belle II experiment from decays of the $\rm Υうぷしろん(4S)$ resonance produced in $e^{+}e^{-}$ collisions. A simultaneous fit to the Belle and Belle II data sets yields… ▽ More We report the result of a search for the rare decay $B^{0} \to γがんまγがんま$ using a combined dataset of $753\times10^{6}$ $B\bar{B}$ pairs collected by the Belle experiment and $387\times10^{6}$ $B\bar{B}$ pairs collected by the Belle II experiment from decays of the $\rm Υうぷしろん(4S)$ resonance produced in $e^{+}e^{-}$ collisions. The sample has an integrated luminosity of 362 fb$^{-1}$ at a centre-of-mass energy of 10.58 GeV. Using an optimised event selection, a binned maximum likelihood fit is performed using the momentum spectra of the electron and muon candidates. The result, $R_μみゅー= 0.9675 \pm 0.0007 \pm 0.0036$, where the first uncertainty is statistical and the second is systematic, is the most precise to date. It provides a stringent test of the light-lepton universality, translating to a ratio of the couplings of the muon and electron to the $W$ boson in $τたう$ decays of $0.9974 \pm 0.0019$, in agreement with the standard model expectation of unity. △ Less

We reconstruct $8360\pm 180$ decays from an analysis of the distributions of the $B^-$ energy and the $ρろー(770)^-$ helicity angle. Angular analysis of $B \to K^* e^+ e^-$ in the low-$q^2$ region with new electron identification at Belle

Abstract: Using the data samples of 102 million $Υうぷしろん(1S)$ and 158 million $Υうぷしろん(2S)$ events collected by the Belle detector, we search for a pentaquark state in the $pJ/ψぷさい$ final state from $Υうぷしろん(1,2S)$ inclusive decays. Here, the charge-conjugate $\bar{p}J/ψぷさい$ is included. We observe clear $pJ/ψぷさい$ production in $Υうぷしろん(1,2S)$ decays and measure the branching fractions to be $\mathcal{B}[Υうぷしろん(1S) \to pJ/ψぷさい+ anything] = [4.27 \pm 0.16(stat.) \pm 0.20(syst.)] \times 10^{-5}$ and $\mathcal{B}[Υうぷしろん(2S) \to pJ/ψぷさい+ anything] = [3.59 \pm 0.14(stat.) \pm 0.16(syst.)] \times 10^{-5}$. We also measure the cross section of inclusive $pJ/ψぷさい$ production in $e^+e^-$ annihilation to be $σしぐま(e^+e^- \to pJ/ψぷさい+ anything) = [57.5 \pm 2.1 (stat.) \pm 2.5(syst.)]$~fb at $\sqrt{s} = 10.52~\hbox{GeV}$ using an 89.5~fb$^{-1}$ continuum data sample. There is no significant $P_c(4312)^+$, $P_c(4440)^+$ or $P_c(4457)^+$ signal found in the $pJ/ψぷさい$ final states in $Υうぷしろん(1,2S)$ inclusive decays. We determine the upper limits of $\mathcal{B}[Υうぷしろん(1,2S)\to P_c^{+} + anything] \cdot \mathcal{B}(P_c^{+}\to pJ/ψぷさい)$ to be at the $10^{-6}$ level. △ Less

The analysis probes two different models of $X$ beyond the standard model: a $Z^{\prime}$ vector boson in the $L_μみゅー-L_τたう$ model and a muonphilic scalar. We observe no evidence for a signal and set exclusion limits at the 90$\%$ confidence level on the products of cross section and branching fraction for these processes, ranging from 0.046 fb to 0.97 fb for the $L_μみゅー-L_τたう$ model and from 0.055 fb to 1.3 fb for the muonphilic scalar model. For masses below 6 GeV/$c^{2}$, the corresponding constraints on the couplings of these processes to the standard model range from 0.0008 to 0.039 for the $L_μみゅー-L_τたう$ model and from 0.0018 to 0.040 for the muonphilic scalar model. It improves previous algorithms by using the information from all charged final-state particles and the relations between them. Possible intermediate states in the $πぱい^+πぱい^-Υうぷしろん(1S,2S)$ transitions are also investigated, and no evidence for decays proceeding via the $πぱい^\mp Z_b^\pm$ or $f_0(980)Υうぷしろん(nS)$ intermediate states is found. We measure Born cross sections for the $e^{+}e^{-}\toπぱい^{+}πぱい^{-}Υうぷしろん(nS)$ process that, combined with results from Belle, improve the precision of measurements of the $Υうぷしろん(10753)$ mass and width by nearly a factor of two to $(10756.3\pm2.7\pm0.6)$ MeV/$c^2$ and $(29.7\pm8.5\pm1.1)$ MeV, respectively. The normalization decay, $\overline{B}\rightarrow D^{*} \ell^{-} \overlineνにゅー_{\ell}$, where $\ell$ is an electron or muon, produces the same observable final state particles. The ratio of branching fractions is extracted in a simultaneous fit to two signal-discriminating variables in both channels and yields $R(D^{*}) = 0.262~_{-0.039}^{+0.041}(\mathrm{stat})~_{-0.032}^{+0.035}(\mathrm{syst})$. For background suppression, we exploit distinct signal features using machine learning methods tuned with simulated data. The signal-reconstruction efficiency and background suppression are validated through various control channels. The branching fraction is extracted in a maximum likelihood fit. Our inclusive and hadronic analyses yield consistent results for the $B^{+}\rightarrow K^{+}νにゅー\barνにゅー$ branching fraction of $\left[2.7\pm 0.5(\mathrm{stat})\pm 0.5(\mathrm{syst})\right] \times 10^{-5}$ and $\left[1.1^{+0.9}_{-0.8}(\mathrm{stat}){}^{+0.8}_{-0.5}(\mathrm{syst})\right] \times 10^{-5}$, respectively. Combining the results, we determine the branching fraction of the decay $B^{+}\rightarrow K^{+}νにゅー\barνにゅー$ to be $\left[2.3 \pm 0.5(\mathrm{stat})^{+0.5}_{-0.4}(\mathrm{syst})\right]\times 10^{-5}$, providing the first evidence for this decay at $3.5$ standard deviations. The analysis probes three different models predicting a spin-1 particle coupling only to the heavier lepton families, a Higgs-like spin-0 particle that couples preferentially to charged leptons (leptophilic scalar), and an axion-like particle, respectively. We observe no evidence for a signal and set exclusion limits at 90% confidence level on the product of cross section and branching fraction into $τたう$ pairs, ranging from 0.7 fb to 24 fb, and on the couplings of these processes. We obtain world-leading constraints on the couplings for the leptophilic scalar model for masses above 6.5 GeV/$c^2$ and for the axion-like particle model over the entire mass range. △ Less

Precise measurement of the $D^+_s$ lifetime at Belle II

Abstract: We search for $CP$ violation by measuring a $T$-odd asymmetry in the Cabibbo-suppressed $D^{+}\rightarrow K^{+}K^{0}_{S}πぱい^{+}πぱい^{-} $ decay, and in the Cabibbo-favored $D^{+}_{s}\rightarrow K^{+}K^{0}_{S}πぱい^{+}πぱい^{-}$ and $D^{+}\rightarrow K^{+}K^{-}K^{0}_{S}πぱい^{+}$ decays. We use 980 ${\rm fb}^{-1}$ of data collected by the Belle detector running at the KEKB asymmetric-energy $e^{+}e^{-}$ collider. T… ▽ More We search for $CP$ violation by measuring a $T$-odd asymmetry in the Cabibbo-suppressed $D^{+}\rightarrow K^{+}K^{0}_{S}πぱい^{+}πぱい^{-} $ decay, and in the Cabibbo-favored $D^{+}_{s}\rightarrow K^{+}K^{0}_{S}πぱい^{+}πぱい^{-}$ and $D^{+}\rightarrow K^{+}K^{-}K^{0}_{S}πぱい^{+}$ decays. We use 980 ${\rm fb}^{-1}$ of data collected by the Belle detector running at the KEKB asymmetric-energy $e^{+}e^{-}$ collider. The $C\!P$-violating $T$-odd parameter ${a}^{T\text{-}\rm{odd}}_{CP}$ is measured to be ${a}^{T\text{-}\rm{odd}}_{CP}(D^{+}\rightarrow K^{+}K^{0}_{S}πぱい^{+}πぱい^{-})=(0.34\pm0.87\pm0.32)\%,$ ${a}^{T\text{-}\rm{odd}}_{CP}(D^{+}_{s}\rightarrow K^{+}K^{0}_{S}πぱい^{+}πぱい^{-})=(-0.46\pm0.63\pm0.38)\%,$ and ${a}^{T\text{-}\rm{odd}}_{CP}(D^{+}\rightarrow K^{+}K^{-}K^{0}_{S}πぱい^{+})=(-3.34\pm2.66\pm0.35)\%,$ where the first uncertainty is statistical and the second is systematic. We also report the first observation of the Cabibbo-suppressed decay $D^{+}_{s}\rightarrow K^{+}K^{-}K^{0}_{S}πぱい^{+}$. Abstract: We report a measurement of the $C\!P$-violating parameters $A$ and $S$ in $B^{0}\to K_{S}^{0} πぱい^{0}$ decays at Belle II using a sample of $387\times 10^{6}$ $B\bar{B}$ events recorded in $e^{+}e^{-}$ collisions at a center-of-mass energy corresponding to the $Υうぷしろん(4S)$ resonance. These parameters are determined by fitting the proper decay-time distribution of a sample of 415 signal events. Observation of ${B\to D^{(*)} K^- K^{0}_S}$ decays using the 2019-2022 Belle II data sample

These results include the first observation of $\overline B{}^0\to D^+K^-K_S^0$, $B^-\to D^{*0}K^-K_S^0$, and $\overline B{}^0\to D^{*+}K^-K_S^0$ decays and a significant improvement in the precision of $\text{B}(B^-\to D^0K^-K_S^0)$ compared to previous measurements. △ Less

Novel method for the identification of the production flavor of neutral charmed mesons

Abstract: We propose a new algorithm for the identification of the production flavor of neutral $D$ mesons in the Belle II experiment. The algorithm exploits the correlation between the flavor of a reconstructed neutral $D$ meson (signal $D$ meson) and the electric charges of particles reconstructed in the rest of the $e^+e^-\to c \bar{c}$ event. These include those originating from the decay of the other c… ▽ More We propose a new algorithm for the identification of the production flavor of neutral $D$ mesons in the Belle II experiment. The algorithm exploits the correlation between the flavor of a reconstructed neutral $D$ meson (signal $D$ meson) and the electric charges of particles reconstructed in the rest of the $e^+e^-\to c \bar{c}$ event. These include those originating from the decay of the other charm hadron produced in the event, as well as those possibly produced in association with the signal $D$ meson. We develop the algorithm using simulation and calibrate it in data using decay modes that identify the flavor of the decaying neutral $D$ meson. We use a data sample of $e^+e^-$ collisions, corresponding to $362\,\mathrm{fb}^{-1}$ of integrated luminosity, collected by Belle II at center-of-mass energies near the $Υうぷしろん(4S)$ mass. The effective tagging efficiency in data is $(47.91 \pm 0.07 \mathrm{(stat)} \pm 0.51 \mathrm{(syst)})\%$, independent of the neutral-$D$-meson decay mode. This charm flavor tagger will approximately double the effective sample size of many $CP$-violation and charm-mixing measurements that so far have exclusively relied on neutral $D$ mesons originating from $D^{*\pm}$ decays. While developed for Belle II, the basic principles underlying the charm flavor tagger can be used in other experiments, including those at hadron colliders. △ Less

We separate exclusive $B \to πぱい\, \ell\, \bar νにゅー_{\ell}$ decays from other inclusive $B \to X_u \, \ell\, \bar νにゅー_{\ell}$ and backgrounds with a two-dimensional fit, that utilizes the number of charged pions in the $X_u$ system and the four-momentum transfer $q^2$ between the $B$ and $X_u$ system. Combining our measurement with information from lattice QCD and QCD calculations of the inclusive partial rate as well as external experimental information on the shape of the $B \to πぱい\, \ell\, \bar νにゅー_{\ell}$ form factor, we determine $\left|V_{ub}^{\mathrm{excl.}} \right| = (3.78 \pm 0.23 \pm 0.16 \pm 0.14)\times 10^{-3}$ and $\left|V_{ub}^{\mathrm{incl.}} \right| = (3.88 \pm 0.20 \pm 0.31 \pm 0.09)\times 10^{-3}$, respectively, with the uncertainties being the statistical error, systematic errors, and theory errors. The ratio of $\left|V_{ub}^{\mathrm{excl.}} \right| / \left|V_{ub}^{\mathrm{incl.}} \right| = 0.97 \pm 0.12$ is compatible with unity. △ Less

Highly efficient methods of their suppression are developed and applied to select 165 signal-candidate events. We obtain $ξくしー^\prime=0.22\pm0.94\pm0.42$ where the first uncertainty is statistical, and the second one is systematic. Measurement of the $B^0$ lifetime and flavor-oscillation frequency using hadronic decays reconstructed in 2019-2021 Belle II data

We determine the mass and width parameters to be $m = 3873.71 ^{+0.56}_{-0.50} ({\rm stat}) \pm0.13 ({\rm syst}) ~{\rm MeV}/c^2$ and $Γがんま_0 = 5.2 ^{+2.2}_{-1.5} ({\rm stat}) \pm 0.4 ({\rm syst})~{\rm MeV}$, respectively. The branching fraction is found to be ${\cal B} (B^+\to X(3872)K^+) \times {\cal{B}}(X(3872) \to D^0\overline{D}{}^{*0}) = (0.97 ^{+0.21}_{-0.18} ({\rm stat}) \pm 0.10 ({\rm syst})) \times 10^{-4}$. The signal from $B^0$ decays is observed for the first time with $5.2σしぐま$ significance, and the ratio of branching fractions between charged and neutral $B$ decays is measured to be ${\cal B}(B^0\to X(3872)K^0)/{\cal B}(B^+ \to X(3872)K^+) = 1.34^{+0.47}_{-0.40} ({\rm stat}) ^{+0.10}_{-0.12} ({\rm syst})$. The peak is also studied using a Flatté lineshape. We determine the lower limit on the $D\overline{D}{}^{*}$ coupling constant $g$ to be $0.075$ at 95% credibility in the parameter region where the ratio of $g$ to the mass difference from the $D^0\overline{D}{}^{*0}$ threshold is equal to $-15.11~{\rm GeV}^{-1}$, as measured by LHCb. △ Less

First measurement of the Q^2 distribution of X(3915) single-tag two-photon production

We extract the Caprini-Lellouch-Neubert (CLN) and Boyd-Grinstein-Lebed (BGL) form factor parameters and use an external input for the absolute branching fractions to determine the Cabibbo-Kobayashi-Maskawa matrix element and find $|V_{cb}|_\mathrm{CLN} = (40.1\pm0.9)\times 10^{-3}$ and $|V_{cb}|_\mathrm{BGL} = (40.6\pm 0.9)\times 10^{-3}$ with the zero-recoil lattice QCD point $\mathcal{F}(1) = 0.906 \pm 0.013$. We also perform a study of the impact of preliminary beyond zero-recoil lattice QCD calculations on the $|V_{cb}|$ determinations. Additionally, we present the lepton flavor universality ratio $R_{eμみゅー} = \mathcal{B}(B \to D^* e \barνにゅー_e) / \mathcal{B}(B \to D^* μみゅー\barνにゅー_μみゅー) = 0.990 \pm 0.021 \pm 0.023$, the electron and muon forward-backward asymmetry and their difference $ΔでるたA_{FB}=0.022\pm0.026\pm 0.007$, and the electron and muon $D^*$ longitudinal polarization fraction and their difference $ΔでるたF_L^{D^*} = 0.034 \pm 0.024 \pm 0.007$. The search uses electron-positron collisions at $10.58$ GeV center-of-mass energy with an integrated luminosity of $62.8$ fb$^{-1}$, produced by the SuperKEKB collider and collected with the Belle II detector. We search for an excess in the lepton-energy spectrum of the known… ▽ More We search for lepton-flavor-violating $τたう^-\to e^-αあるふぁ$ and $τたう^-\toμみゅー^-αあるふぁ$ decays, where $αあるふぁ$ is an invisible spin-0 boson. The search uses electron-positron collisions at $10.58$ GeV center-of-mass energy with an integrated luminosity of $62.8$ fb$^{-1}$, produced by the SuperKEKB collider and collected with the Belle II detector. We search for an excess in the lepton-energy spectrum of the known $τたう^-\to e^-\barνにゅー_e νにゅー_τたう$ and $τたう^-\to μみゅー^-\barνにゅー_μみゅーνにゅー_τたう$ decays. We report 95\% confidence-level upper limits on the branching-fraction ratio ${\mathcal B}(τたう^-\to e^- αあるふぁ) / {\mathcal B}(τたう^- \to e^- \barνにゅー_e νにゅー_τたう)$ in the range $(1.1-9.7) \times 10^{-3}$ and on ${\mathcal B}(τたう^-\to μみゅー^- αあるふぁ) / {\mathcal B}(τたう^- \to μみゅー^- \barνにゅー_μみゅーνにゅー_τたう)$ in the range $(0.7-12.2) \times 10^{-3}$ for $αあるふぁ$ masses between 0 and 1.6 GeV/c$^2$. Abstract: We present results on the semileptonic decays $B^0 \to ρろー^- \ell^+ νにゅー_\ell$ and $B^+ \to ρろー^0 \ell^+ νにゅー_\ell$ in a sample corresponding to 189.9/fb of Belle II data at the SuperKEKB $e^- e^+$ collider. Signal decays are identified using full reconstruction of the recoil $B$ meson in hadronic final states. The second $B$ meson in the $Υうぷしろん(4S)$ event is not explicitly reconstructed. Using the diamond-frame method, we determine the $B$ meson four-momentum and thus the hadronic recoil. We extract the partial decay rates as functions of $w$ and perform a fit to the decay form-factor and the CKM parameter $|V_{cb}|$ using the BGL parameterization of the form factor and lattice QCD input from the FNAL/MILC and HPQCD collaborations. We obtain $ηいーた_{EW}|V_{cb}|=(38.53\pm 1.15)\times 10^{-3}$, where $ηいーた_{EW}$ is an electroweak correction, and the error accounts for theoretical and experimental sources of uncertainty. △ Less

By fitting the measured partial branching fractions as functions of $q^{2}$, together with constraints on the nonperturbative hadronic contribution from lattice QCD calculations, the magnitude of the Cabibbo-Kobayashi-Maskawa matrix element $V_{ub}$, $(3.55 \pm 0.12 \pm 0.13 \pm 0.17) \times 10^{-3}$, is extracted. Combining with the world average $\mathcal{B}(Λらむだ_c^+\to{}pK_S^0)$, we have the absolute branching fractions: $\mathcal{B}(Λらむだ_c^+\to{}pK_S^0K_S^0) = {(2.35\pm 0.12\pm 0.07 \pm 0.12 )\times 10^{-4}}$ and $\mathcal{B}(Λらむだ_c^+\to{}pK_S^0ηいーた) = {(4.35\pm 0.10\pm 0.20 \pm 0.22 )\times 10^{-3}}$. The first and second uncertainties are statistical and systematic, respectively, while the third ones arise from the uncertainty on $\mathcal{B}(Λらむだ_c^+\to{}pK_S^0)$. The mode $Λらむだ_c^+\to{}pK_S^0K_S^0$ is observed for the first time and has a statistical significance of $>\!10σしぐま$. The branching fraction of $Λらむだ_c^+\to{}pK_S^0ηいーた$ has been measured with a threefold improvement in precision over previous results and is found to be consistent with the world average. △ Less
