Nucleus is a typical many-body quantum system. Full calculation of a nuclear system in a classical computer is far beyond the capacity of current classical computers. With fast development of hardware, the prospect of using quantum computers in nuclear physics is closing. Here, we report a full quantum package, QCSH, for solving nuclear shell-model in a quantum computer. QCSH uses the linear combination of unitaries formalism of quantum computing, and performs all calculations in a quantum computer. The complexities of qubit resource, number of basic gates of QCSH, are both polynomial to the nuclear size. QCSH can already provide meaningful results in the near term. As examples, the binding energies of twelve light nuclei, $^{2}$H, $^{3}$H, $^{3}$He, $^{4}$He, $^{6}$Li, $^{7}$Li, $^{12}$C, $^{14}$N, $^{16}$O, $^{17}$O, $^{23}$Na and $^{40}$Ca are calculated using QCSH in a classical quantum emulator. The binding energy of Deuteron has already been experimentally studied using QCSH on a superconducting quantum computing device. QCSH not only works in near-term quantum devices, but also in future large-scale quantum computers. With the development of quantum devices, nuclear system constitutes another promising area for demonstrating practical quantum advantage.

The study of rotation-alignment of quasiparticles probes sensitively the properties of high-j intruder orbits. The distribution of very high-j orbits, which are consequences of the fundamental spin-orbit interaction, links with the important question of single-particle levels in superheavy nuclei. With the deformed single-particle states generated by the standard Nilsson potential, we perform Projected-Shell-Model calculations for transfermium nuclei where detailed spectroscopy experiment is currently possible. Specifically, we study the systematical behavior of rotation-alignment and associated band-crossing phenomenon in Cf, Fm, and No isotopes. Neutrons and protons from the high-j orbits are found to compete strongly in rotation-alignment, which gives rise to testable effects. Observation of these effects will provide direct information on the single-particle states in the heaviest nuclear mass region.

We show that in superheavy nuclei collective vibrations systematically appear as low-energy excitation modes. By using the microscopic Triaxial Projected Shell Model, we make a detailed prediction on gamma-vibrational states and their E2 transition probabilities to the ground state band in Fermium and Nobelium isotopes where active structure research is going on, and in 270Ds, the heaviest isotope where decay data have been obtained for the ground-state and for an isomeric state.

A sequence of isospin excitation bands with isospin $(T= T_{z}$, $T_{z}+1$ and $ T_{z}+2) $ has been assigned, and compared with available data. According to this study, the $2^{+}_{3} $ and $2^{+}_{2} $ states are the lowest mixed symmetry states in $^{48,50}$Cr respectively. In particular, the present calculations suggest that a combination of isospin and F-spin excitation can explain the structure in these nuclei. The transition probabilities between the levels are analyzed in terms of isoscalar and isovector decomposition which reveal the detailed nature of the energy levels. The results obtained are found in good agreement with recent experimental data.

The octupole strengths of $β$-stable nucleus $^{208}_{82}Pb_{126}$, a neutron skin nucleus $^{60}_{20}Ca_{40}$ and a neutron drip line nucleus $^{28}_{8}O_{20}$ are studied by using the self-consistent Hartree-Fock calculation plus the random phase approximation (RPA) with Skyrme interaction. The collective properties of low-lying excitations are analyzed by using particle-vibration coupling. The results show that the lowest isoscalar states above threshold in $^{60}_{20}Ca_{40}$ and $^{28}_{8}O_{20}$ are the superpositions of collective excitations and unperturbed transitions from bound state to nonresonance states. For these three nuclei, both the low-lying isoscalar states and giant isoscalar resonance carry isovector strength. The ratio B(IV)/B(IS) is checked. It is found that, for $^{208}_{82}Pb_{126}$, the ratios are equal to $(\frac{N-Z}{A})^2$ in good accuracy, while for $^{60}_{20}Ca_{40}$ and $^{28}_{8}O_{20}$, the ratios are much larger than $(\frac{N-Z}{A})^2$. This results from the excess neutrons with small binding energies in $^{60}_{20}Ca_{40}$ and $^{28}_{8}O_{20}$.

Nuclear magnetic dipole properties of ground bands and gamma-vibrational bands are studied for the first time using the triaxial projected shell model approach. The study is carried out for the Dy and Er isotopic chains, ranging from transitional to well-deformed region. It is found that the g-factor ratio of the 2^+ state in ground bands to that of gamma-bands, r=g(2^+, gamma-vib)/g(2^+, ground), varies along an isotopic chain. With the gamma-deformations, which best reproduce the energy levels for both bands, we obtain a qualitative agreement with the experimental data. This result thus suggests that study of the ratio may provide an important information on the triaxial deformation of a nuclear system. The angular-momentum dependence of the ground band g-factor on the triaxial deformation is also investigated.

The projected shell model implements shell model configuration mixing in the projected deformed basis. Our analysis on the recently observed superdeformed band in $^{36}$Ar suggests that the neutron and proton 2-quasiparticle and the 4-quasiparticle bands cross the superdeformed ground band at the same angular momentum. This constitutes a picture of band disturbance in which the first and the second band-crossing, commonly seen at separate rotation frequencies in heavy nuclei, occur simultaneously. We also attempt to understand the assumptions of two previous theoretical calculations which interpreted this band. Electromagnetic properties of the band are predicted.

Spectrum and electric dipole transition rates and relative intensities in $^{152-154}$Sm, $^{156-160}$Gd, $^{160-162}$Dy are studied in the framework of the interacting boson model with s,p,d,f bosons. It is found that E1 transition data among the low-lying levels are in good agreement with the SU(3) dynamical symmetry of the spdf interacting boson model proposed by Engel and Iachello to describe collective rotation with octupole vibration. These results show that these nuclei have SU(3) dynamic symmetry to a good approximation. Also in this work many algebraic expressions for electric dipole transitions in the SU(3) limit of the spdf-IBM have been obtained. These formulae together with the formulae given previously exhaust nearly all the E1 transitions for low-lying negative parity states. They are useful in analyzing experimental data.

Abstract:
Comprehensive evidences of the SU(3) limit in the spdf interacting boson model, a dynamical symmetry describing octupole vibration in rotational nucleus, are found in the spectrum, E2 and E1 transition rates, and relative intensities in $^{158}$Gd.
